Almost anything is better and faster than VB (see equation at bottom of my post.), although I wish I could get PB speed comparable to the old 16 bit GFA Basic. Maybe because my old listboxes have changed to PB's ListIconGadget is why it is so dramatically slower than 16 bit. PB also doesn't seem to keep up with GFA 16 bit when reading files a byte at a time. Hoping Fred can incorporate the fastfile functions available as an appendage to PureBasic. (Haven't figured out these library addon thingys yet, AND don't believe I should have to, so I will avoid them even if it means slower execution. PB is still the best alternative around that I've seen.)
