The worst is that there are still traces of uranium and plutonium in nature due to the H bomb in 1952 was launched ...
There is an industry for mining old sunken pre-atomic warships for steel from the sea. Those has low background radiation, and used in sensitive devices/sensors. Mostly for scientific and space-stuff. We can not create that quality steel today.
