A great point, plouf . Just need to learn how to use itplouf wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:51 pm Another posibility to "support fantasie software" is to register with Spiderbasic. Wouldn't it be interesting for every purebasic update to be paid?

The idea is valid, however it would be a pity if the focus were shifted from PureBasic to SpiderBasic.plouf wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:51 pm Another posibility to "support fantasie software" is to register with Spiderbasic.

Personally, I can't do anything with Spiderbasic.
Just because it worked doesn't mean it works.
PureBasic 6.04 (x86) and <latest stable version and current alpha/beta> (x64) on Windows 11 Home. Now started with Linux (VM: Ubuntu 22.04).

At work, no one knew that I was writing programs, and I can’t show them, at most I showed screenshots of programs to a couple of people. And now with the phone, I can show that it added a storm of emotions, we immediately started arguing about which is better android or iPhone. We started discussing what programs can be written, I was immediately offered options for similar programs and gave advice on what functionality to make in the program.Axolotl wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 4:06 pm The idea is valid, however it would be a pity if the focus were shifted from PureBasic to SpiderBasic.

However keep in mind that web/phone IS the current most used platform
Most "simple people" only have a phone or tablet no more PC's or laptop for household
And spidebasic IS in practice PB i.e. same syntax mostly. so if you dont need it now, but the time you need it come suddenly, learning curve for pb->sb is minimal to zero.... A grear advance
I also dont have used SB for anything productive.
However once in job i had a idea for "fun" and program a simple game, just for fun with colleagues.. idea was fast and offcourse could "play" it in their phone in break time... Small fun times make life something to remeber.

Circling back to Fred's question...
I haven't heard much negative about Patreon (but haven't researched it), but with it popular with many YouTubers, one may deduce that it must be easy... Plus, it allows monthly support with simplicity.
Some people have had bad experiences with PayPal, and prefer an alternate payment method. There are many out there, with varying degrees of management; e.g. high level with Amazon payment or Patreon, etc. vs. Low level direct cc processing. The higher the management, the higher the fees and simplicity.

Re: Wouldn't it be interesting for every purebasic update to be paid?
To the payment method.
I guess people have problem/disagreement with providing sensitive info (card) or in general register to services
Here in europe there is a method called paysafe card.
You basically buy with cash a "code" from kiosks/supermarkets the "code" and anyone can liquity this "code" in its account.
So the sender is anonymous, bypasing information and politic restrictions (russia current etc)
Edit
Thinking above.. there are also nowdays googlepay/applepay prepaid cards in supermarkets..

Not possible due to the lifetime license agreement but I guess the question is, would it motivate more active development ?Wouldn't it be interesting for every purebasic update to be paid?
I guess only the dev team can answer that based on their life situation.
Due to the lifetime license that I appreciate, I would certainly chip in 5 Eur every month on a Patreon to show my support but I have a feeling the community is too small for funds to make any real difference.

Re: Wouldn't it be interesting for every purebasic update to be paid?
I found it easy just to pay by bank transfer, using the provided IBAN code. I also dislike Paypal and their behaviour and practices towards customers, as I think someone else on the forum has experienced.
Re: Wouldn't it be interesting for every purebasic update to be paid?
I have been using PayPals for more than ten years, (like three hundred million people in the world) and I have never had a problem. It has refunded me two times against dishonest sites (amount collected but goods not delivered). It took about 1 month but it was done without any problem. Paypal starts by doing a customer/merchant dialogue within the framework of its arbitration (internal messaging)
Now, when I go to a new site, I first look to see if they have PayPal as a payment method.
If they don't, I often go to another site.

and I've been using PayPal for over 20 years with no issues.

There is no problem with PayPal until you run afoul of their social engineering plans.
Their TOS includes up to a $2500 fine for arbitrary online social media offenses that may or may not be applied.
No way I will condone that corporate behavior, so I flushed them after 15-20 years of use.
They have become too big and lost sight of their actual business role.
They were a fine financial clearing house but now the strings attached conflict with my pursuit of liberty and free exchange with all peoples regardless of their expressed views.

A direct link from the website - you shouldn't have to log in.
A direct link from the IDE, probably from the "help" menu, or from the "about PB" dialog.
Every announcement about a new version should also include a direct link.
Also, crypto and non-paypal options.
