And what the excuse NOT starting to add prevention merhods
Including CAPTCA and anything else you think ?
Also the reason not increasing mods ?
.. i can help minor on that make me mod
But DO add prevention methods, CAPTCHA and revieing first posts by mods are nice methods that already suggested..

It used to, but not anymore. See here ->

That makes sense. My bad. Thank you for the clarification/link.
Things get scary once you're trying to fight/police humans.
I've witnessed a few services shutting down/closing registrations after it had become impossible to moderate the content.

Since a few days there are also a lot of spam bots coming to the German board. I am deleting a few of them per day.
We need a better spam protection there too!

I m not a very important person, but I allow myself to tell you, if you add a captcha, I will fail to connect. And I won't be there.
So, I demand to you to really think about a specific subject in the off topic section, to push the new users to present themselves. I see this on forum about cars, or several areas (cook, coding, etc...).

It's only for when signing up, not for when logging in. I'm logged in 24/7.

Or maybe mods can grant users a "human" status after a while when it's clear that these people are serious. The rest needs some extra hurdles to login and/or post. It's not like we're overrun by real people here...

It means that less people register here daily than for Facebook/Instagram/other services. We have 6226 members, not millions.

It would be great if reported spam posts would be immediately (temporary) deleted or blocked or something (maybe if blocked by users with more than 100 posts or active for more than a year or whatever)...

I have seen a voting mechanism in other boards that worked well. Any user can upvote or downvote posts. Every user starts with a configuration like "hide posts below -50". So spam posters would quickly earn negative points for their posting and the post would simply be hidden till a mod appears and deals with them.
That mechanism seems to work well and foils the spammers effort and keeps a forum visually clean. Add such a mechanism, give every active user over 100 posts who is here for 3 years the power of 10 points, every active user over 100 posts and with a signup date of 5+ years 20 points. Set the default hiding level at -50 points and the forum would clean itself.
The simpler solution of mods having to acknowledge the first 5 postings of new users would (mostly) work too.
ps: if anybody abuses this "post voting" mechanism, you can set their voting power to 0. If you think somebody is very trustable, you can assign more voting power to them.

There's a new breed of bot's using chatgpt, seems like every new user who answers a question is suspect, but that's the clue right there. There's been at least 3 today!
