That would be up to the common sense of the programmer. Who knows, maybe some apps would actually NEED 256MB strings... Freedom to decide is the best part

Then i would say, that the person is a very bad programmer and should search a new hobby.

But FREEDOM to decide is STILL the best.

You mean the lack of large strings is the cause of joblessness in Germany?

And here I was thinking that a slow worldwide economy was the cause...

Exactly ... can someone tell it our Mr. Schröder ?

It the spirit of "putting peoples into cages" the idea that people must be controlled.
Its the missing freedom that makes germany and secondly the world economy running into problems.
Did you know that england has 50% better numbers about jobless peoples ?
You'll say "they have no large strings too". Ok, but it shows that England and Ireland show that only freedom ist the answer to our current problems.
The world-economy doesn't fall from heaven but is made by men and by their philosophy.
The only true working philosophy about oekonomy is freedom.
So we don't need fixed buffer-sizes

. Think BIG. Vote for large-strings next time.

I didn't mean to offend and sorry for being slightly off topic here, but please enlighten us: Is Germany not a free country? What freedoms do the people of Germany not enjoy that the people of the US and UK (among others) have?
