I have a GTX 560Ti and a Creative X-Fi on the PC where I tested your code (Windows 7 Home 64bit 12GB RAM)... almost same HW like you and no IMA

LOL! Yeah, thanks..Seems like there's something spooky going on.
At least I know, that it works using FS. I'm gonna use it with
great care, though. It is scary, that you can execute and exit without ima
while I can't on three different machines.
Unless...there's something different between home, pro and ultimate...
If so..Then I'm going to stay away from Sound3D().
