This would normally only apply to federal crimes as such databases are very rarely made available to non-federal law enforcement agencies.

Who the hell registers a printer? They're only a couple of dollars.
Okay, not a couple, but definitely under $50 here in Australia.
It's the ink that makes the sales; not the printer itself.

Anyway, seems like a good way to frame someone. Buy a printer
with cash, then register it to Danilo and print death threats.

Why invest in electronics for human tracking when you can't duplicate DNA sequence and it's logged by every immigration(done in certified surgeon exams for application) and medical system(synchronized and correlated with any blood work submission) for every government on the face of the planet, and has been for at least half a century? Ask anyone, it's not a 'conspiracy'(using "conspiracy" under the context it's commonly used to discredit and not the actual definition most people don't know)..

This printer stuff is old news. Question is, if you buy it at a garage sale how do they track you(unless they correlate with a networked backdoor)? I'm guessing they use retail logistics coding to track it to the first buyer or retail surveillance; if they are desperate. Shop by specs and model and buy used with cash(and hope the seller didn't just commit crimes with it that later can be traced to you under some scenarios)..

I'm actually wondering why all the 'enlightened' privacy advocates haven't made a single mention of NIC MAC databases that are in the hands of certain governments? These are far more useful.. I guess the public's smart people are still catching up to the people who were paying attention before it was a niche market?
