TrackMouseEvent_() seems simpler than making a gadget from scratch, imho.

To question 1, only the team can give an answer. Until that happens you should assume they're unsupported and could go away.
To question 2, your code looks fine.

or are these EventTypes missing in documentation
That's one question as an answer to the first part necessarily answers the second part.

I don't think so.
A forgotten entry in documentation could be an alternate reason.

But a forgotten entry in documentation would mean the events are supported, answering the first part. Conversely, an answer to the first part that they are not supported would answer the second part, that nothing was missed in documentation. It's all the same question.
