Exactly. "FlexLink" seems to be a pretty big company, they definitely will have "a little" more money than me for a legal dispute.
From my point of view, the situation would be different if this program of mine were a 1000,- $ top-selling product ... but it's Freeware, which I wrote just for fun, and for the benefit of everyone who can make use of it. It doesn't make sense for me (and is not fun anymore) to waste lifetime and money because of its name in a legal dispute with a big company.

The full story actually is, that I had decided to change the name before I started this thread. That's why I chose the thread title as it is.
All your efforts are welcome. However, I will change the name, so helping me to find a good one would be most helpful for me. Thanks.

My most recent idea is PluriLink. Does that sound good for native English speakers?
"pluri-" is a prefix derived from the Latin word "plus", meaning "many", several". So I think "PluriLink" could mean something like "multi-purpose link", no?

After having drunken some glasses of that stuff, one probably is not able to say the name anymore.

Linkki (the Finnish word for "link") and FlexyLink also sound nice to me.

though I wouldn't worry to much about the cease and desist concerning the Trademark
1) the trademark is for the logo as a word, not the word itself and the trade mark specifically specifies the domain it's relevant too
which has nothing to do with software product

Classical Brainstorming. Write down everything that comes to mind
without rating it, whatever non-sense it may be.

You may want to use something like dict.cc and dict.leo.org for finding new associations.

Later you evaluate the ideas/words and look for the good stuff, if any.

Besides other things, I did do so during the last 3 days.

"FlexyLink" was my favourite new name.
But in the meantime, an experienced man told me:

In general, 1 character difference isn't considered as sufficient in trademark law - normally at least 2 characters must be different, even more if the name sounds too similar.

I asked that company whether they have any objections against "FlexyLink", and actually they said that it's too close to their registered brand name "FlexLink".

Someone suggested (my given name is "Juergen"):

Juerlink sounds good to me, close enough to "your link" !

Or what about "FlexpoLink" (flexible portable link) or "FleksLink"?

If they didn't have a presence in Germany, it wouldn't be a problem, but since they have quite a base there, it would be better to steer clear.

JuerLink looks nice, and would also sound nice if pronounced as it should, with the "y" sound; but if it is pronounced with the "j" sound, not as good. Anyway, just my opinion.
