I really hope it's a bad joke. Come on, srod should be invulnerable. He MUST be invulnerable.

Me too..it's really not funny

I laugh of nearly all, i love laughing...but here not
It's strange ....nobody is friend with SROD ???

I think, like he is a very good programmer, he don't want give his personal mail at everybody...especially me

, for not be disturbed
But between big programmers....it's strange to not have personal contacts
The goal is just to reassure all his PB friend and fans ....

I've sent him an email. So I'll update you if I get anything back.

...not getting a reply to an email is inconclusive, srod does not answer all his mail. I'm hoping that his non-software business is eating all his time at the moment. Mind you, there are signs of something being wrong, he's started coding for Mac OS and Linux

If he's just busy, I'm sure he'd at least keep his websites online. And he just bought a new mac not long ago to dive into producing code for that platform so I can't really see that he's left coding behind altogether. Best case he's just taken some weeks off on holiday abroad and isn't in a position to mind things. I'm concerned that he's hurt in the hospital or something though, and I just can't bring myself to even consider the worst. I really didn't appreciate the callous joke at all.

No, neither did I. Frankly I'm surprised Utopiamedia hasn't apologised yet.

Well, I saw him trolling around on here several times in the past, so I don't think this will happen... Simply put him on ignore.

Well, searching a bit deeper .. his nxsoftware domain still belongs to him. After finding out his provider .. the whole provider is offline:
http://freeserve.co.uk/
I think he got his website at his ISP, so he might just doesn't have internet at the moment.
He isn't dead, otherwise everything would be unregistered, not only offline, would it?

Neither did I. I'm shocked that someone seems to think writing such a thing could be a joke.

No, the whole provider is not offline. E.g. the following sites are accessible
http://rodriguz.freeserve.co.uk/
http://www.eneate.freeserve.co.uk/
http://www.abmcdonald.freeserve.co.uk/

Don't think so, you register a site for X amount of time they won't take it down and remove the registration if you die, only when it doesn't get renewed.

FreeServe (was a UK company, perhaps the infrastructure still is in the UK) is no longer independent, they have changed ownership at least twice and now that they are owned by 'Orange' it may be that domain names will be changed. There is a Wiki about FreeServe:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeserve
So, this lead tells us a little bit about sRod, for example I did not know what country he comes from, turns out he lives here in blightly (Britain), but he is a fair distance from me, 245miles (of snow!).
Edit: He lives closer to you moogle.
Edit: sRod's Car Business website is also down.
Edit: So, I know sRod's phone number but I think it is too much of an intrusion of privacy to call him. Perhaps some of the long-time forum members know sRod and could contact him?

Yep, 66 miles away. I never knew we had many UK users.

Not really. I also saw a phone number from his site's whois info, but I can't make calls overseas from here. Someone should call, as it's a legit concern for him. I'm sure he'd be touched.

Must admit, I wouldn't call him myself... not just from the invasion of privacy aspect, but if something has seriously happened, I would
not want to be the random stranger calling a grief stricken family!
But on the other side of that coin, If people decided to write a letter, that would be more acceptable I would say.
Well thats my couple of pennies worth of wisdom anyway... not that I have any wisdom
