I'm not quite sure why people keep equating webcam handling with OpenCV. Does it have webcam handling built-in?
There's a separate request for OpenCV

Somehow they tend to go hand in hand. When I started OpenCV stuff I was amazed on how well it handled the webcam. So yes, you can say that webcam is part of OpenCV.

If the webcam library goes for Linux beyond the usual 640x480 pixels and supports HD resolution, I am in for 1+.
