Fred,
I agree with The Beck, future lies with X86-64. If a PureBasic-64 compiler could be available 'soon' after the chip is released, you'd really get the jump on the competition.

History has proven... Those who get there first... get the biggest slice of brie.

Actually, Beck is quite correct.
The X86-64 will be -the- new high-end PC to have this Spring.

IA-64 is geared for Corporate/Enterprise, and it doesn't sound like its going to sell too well for quite a while, software and OS issues.

The beauty of X86-64 is.... Fred doesn't have to do anything.
Because X86-64 is a superset of X86, and is geared to be 100% 32-bit X86 compatible, there is no real need for a port, at least from a survival standpoint.

Yes, being the first 'native 64 bit Basic' would be a nice feather in Fred's cap :)
However, will people who see that bother staying if they can't find out the breadth and depth of Pure Basic? There's little to read on the site currently which would compell me to purchase PureBasic over Power Basic, even as a current BB2D and now BB3D owner.

I've been trying for a day now to google up some data on how PureBasic compares to Power, and am not having much luck.
Really, PureBasic seems to be a totally awesome product, which beats BB in many areas. However, if you can not get that across to a potential buyer, then they will not buy.

In short, I'd suggest some sort of crash effort into updating your docs, and getting someone to help with the site, and get some good comparative data up so that people who stop by, stay hooked!

Other than my little rant, pretty darn impressive work.

I want to believe buy!

Give me some reasons :)

All you really need to do it go to both http://www.powerbasic.com and http://www.purebasic.com is you want to compare.

Both are very similar.
Both say they create small and fast executables.
Both have demos you can download so you can compare syntax.

What jumps out at me though is this:
- Powerbasic Windows Compiler $199.00
- Console Compiler $169.00
- Form Designer $99.00
- SQL Tools $199.95
- Console Tools $99.95
- Graphic Tools $139.95
=========================
- PureBasic Windows compiler $60
(includes Console & DLL compiler)
(includes Amiga and Linux compiler)
(includes ODBC support for SQL)
(includes commands for Console & Graphics)
(3D support is being worked on)
- PureVision Visual Form Designer $15

So to get you going with PowerBasic... $906.85
To get you going with PureBasic... $75

...Hmmm ?!?!?!

Hi,

No Paul. With the windows compiler you can do almost any windows GUI application. Free GUI designers for PowerBasic are very nice.
Its a true that PowerBasic is great, well known (just check the forums and see how many ppl there!!) and a good product.

PureBasic is great to, but almost unknown un til know. I hope that the new web design will drive more people here. However i think that the community are growing now and thats good.

A comparision chart betwen PureBasic and VisualBasic will make money for Fred.
I dont think that PureBasic need to compite with PowerBasic or Blitz Basic... there are more than 2 millions VB users arround the word... THEY are the real market.

Ans VB users are always searching for 'something'... ¿or not?
In fact PowerBasic grow as a VisualBasic add. At the begginig (until 2 years ago) they just compile dlls that where directed to VB users to let them make fast dlls for VB.

Best Regards

Ricardo

I guess their website information doesn't work for them either then... cause it certainly looks like you need to spend alot of money to do anything.
