Yes, but those are two. Remember: Google had 20,222 full-time employees in the year 2009. Everyone is able to make a mistake and compared to this, the amount of security holes which are public is really small. There are many other companies having far bigger security issues with less employees which can make mistakes. And that's really great: Google found a better way to manage the development, even with so many employees.

Beside this, google has a very high amount of users every day and I'm sure there are a lot of people trying to find holes in such a website, but nearly no one of them finds a big hole.

I'm waiting for the day where some one figures out how to hack
android to delete all Apps from an android phone with the
delete functionality implemented by Google.

Just a little joke. I don't wait for it ... but it would be really hard
for Google if that really happens

What delete functionality? The microsoft security essentials deleted chrome, not google.

Perhaps MS were hoping that, with Chrome gone, all its users would go back to Internet Explorer.

I wouldn't say that, I still use Internet Explorer. And yes I'm aware of it's many security problems, that's why I always run it in a sandbox except when doing Windows Updates.

However I've found so many sites that just plain don't work well in IE8 regardless of the compatibility mode setting that I will either go back to IE7 or switch to Chrome.

IMHO, Microsoft really screwed the pooch with IE8....

IE8 is an antique. It doesn't adhere to standards, is slow, and lacks many important technologies that other browsers have supported for more than five years. IE7 is even worse, since it is even older.

I think you will have few regrets if you move to Chrome! You'll never have to upgrade again because it updates automatically and silently. No worries.

IE8 is terrible! If I browse a few sites with it, then quit it and check the TaskManager, there's like 5 x iexplore.exe processes still running, even though I quit it and only opened ONE browser window! What the? And then if I kill those processes, IE8 restarts itself because it thinks it crashed! That's virus-like behavior as far as I'm concerned. Administrators should always be able to terminate any processes at any time.

IE is always just a pain ... but as long as you doesn't try a
real browser, you can't know that. Every Browser has his own
issues, but if you doesn't trust Google, i prefer Opera.
Why? Can't tell ... it is just that always when i use another Browser
i miss Opera.

The real browsers doesn't have big differences. Today (possible even
IE10), they can mostly the same ... but if i peruse them, Opera
always wins for me.

I have been an Opera user from the beginning, but will be ditching it soon. When von Tetzchner left, it didn't take long for it to degrade, IMHO.

I must admit I like Opera a lot. It feels tight, fast and professional. More than IE and FF does. However, the only thing stopping me using it, is that it hates my bank's website (incompatible) and lack of extensions that I use daily with FF. People say extensions don't matter, or add bloat, but boy, they do a lot for me. Changing the behavior of websites when they load is a god-send! Firefox + Greasemonkey forever!

You do realize that Greasemonkey works 100% fine with Opera? Firefox requires an extension to get Greasemonkey to work. In Opera, you simply import the Greasemonkey script. No extension needed!

I didn't know that. I'll have to check it out, so thanks! But I still need my other extensions, and banking; so I can't ditch FF totally.

I dug up an Opera Greasemonkey tutorial for you. Opera Extensions are growing daily. It is odd that your bank has issues, as Opera is one of the most standards compliant browser out there, but unfortunately, so many sites are only targeted for IE and Firefox. My bank site works fine with Opera, but Amazon is now having issues again. I am an Opera version behind, so perhaps this is fixed now. Gmail was having some issues again for about a month and then Google fixed whatever they broke.

Opera has made some changes that I do not want to put up with. I have been testing CometBird and I really like QtWeb. Opera's days are numbered for me, which is sad.

I don't like the idea of a program that stealth updates on you.


God knows what they could stick on your PC. No worse than going to sites designed to use IE to sneak shit onto your computer.
