The e-mail that I got says they block access to the site after 14
days, and if you don't pay the $9.95 within 30, then they delete it.

It doesn't affect me personally, though, because I was previously
paying them $24.95/year to remove the banner ads, so switching from
that to a once-off $9.95 payment with no ads is a dream come true!

Anyway, checkout http://www.port5.com, I`m moving to them..plus they allow PHP too (no more yucky perl for me)
I had a site at port5.. ..it may still be there. They had "server problems" quite frequently. I got tired of my pages never being up and haven't gone back. Joe

Well, I talked to their networking people, and verified that they are multi-homed T3's, etc.
These days, with so much dark fiber, and over-capacity, you'd be surprised what IT stuff is going for these days. And the same for hosting. Never hurts to try.

Its NOT exactly one dollar per month:

Payment Terms
$1.00 per month based on 1 year pre-payment plus a one time $49.00 lifetime membership fee.
Example:
1st year total cost, $12 hosting fee plus the one time $49.00 membership fee = $61.00
Each year after your total cost only $12.00 per year!!!

Always read small parts!! : )

Best Regards

It isn't exactly free, but check out http://www.aspwebserver.com. It's only $4.10(US) per month. They say no hidden fee's, and you can host ASP, ASP.Net, JSP, and PHP web sites. You can use a MS Access database, or a MySQL database.

I'm nearing the end of the contract where I'm currently hosting my two web sites (http://www.DownriverBrass.com, and http://www.BlueFireStudios.com). I've been paying PowWeb $7.77 a month, and have had problems with their service going out all the time.

I'm seriously considering moving my web sites to ASPWebServer. A co-worker of mine uses it for his family web site, and says it's great.
