I like the new Mac IDE so much that for the first time I am doing my
whole Mac development with the Beta 2. I don't start the stable V 4.51
anymore because the new IDE with the bigger fonts is so much easier
on my eyes and reduces the eyestrain remarkably in long coding sessions.
And the new tabs in the Mac IDE are a gem because they give me the
possibility to open a lot of them and allow me for the first time on the Mac
to use the scrolling arrows to choose between the tabs without having the
tabs truncated. And the look is the same as in Windows and Linux (ideal
for my cross-platform work). So thank you very much for the work on the
new IDE!

You can! Choose your font and size and then close the font requester
by clicking on the close symbol (red dot). Then you will see the new
font in the frame beneath "Select font" ("Zeichensatz"). Click onto "OK"
and you will see the new font in your IDE. I too at first missed a button
with "Select" but it's the standard Mac font requester. Open "TextEdit"
and choose "Format/Schrift/Schriften einblenden" and you will see the
same font requester as in Mac's PB IDE and you also have to select a font
and you have to choose it by closing the requester...
