I don't you see your point in dismissing an opinion about oop, just because he's no clue about pointers.
I'm not dismissing your opinion on oop, just because you don't know heck about 17th century's eastern european art.
You may want to say, that pointers and oop are related to programming and art and oop are not related at all.
It's a stylistic device known as exaggeration. Because while oop and pointers are related to programming they're not related at all.
You can write good programms without the use of pointers and you can do so without oop.
I don't get your Merkel point either. There are lots of physicians who are in favour of atomic energy and there are many who are against it. Just like there are many in this forum that want oop and many don't. And many don't care, too.
You guys are struggling to find arguments for oop but you dismiss the only argument that counts, being Fred saying for several years now: no oop.
That makes any further threads about this useless (as already suggested in the title).
If you want oop now (I doubt any of you
need it as you claim. Otherwise you wouldn't be suing PB anymore and thus not visiting this forum anymore) choose another language or use one of the pre-compilers!
As I understand at least 2 of them are open source, so no need to be afraid of it not working with the next PB version.
Oh, and if you think you're not good enough to make a few changes in the source if necessary, then you should listen do Dark Dragon and stfu. Because if you're not good at programming you can't have an opinion about oop.
Now this thread should be closed. Dark DRagon dragged germany's inner politics into it and just for the hell of it maybe we should fulfill godwin's law to give the mods a reason.

@cw: Not knowing about pointers doesn't mean you're a bad programmer at all. Why would you think that?
It has nothing to do with a "bad/buggy thinking style" if you don't use a certain aspect of the language.
Dark Dragon objection is nonsense because you don't need to know pointers to use oop.
Maybe you all should write network apps, console apps, 2D and 3D games to cover all aspects of PB, before making such bold statements.
