marc,
But, I found the user marc_256.
So the account and the posts must still exist.
The same for the.weavster.

Please don't just abandon your old "identities".

Yeah had the same problem logging in today. Had to request a new password to get in.
I'm using Firefox 1.5 and it doesn't show any CAPTCHA.
Never have I had a problem seeing the CAPTCHA on other logins.
Hope it can be fixed soon.

Just had the same problem. Firefox 3.6.13 (but also tried IE8 & Chrome). Indicated too many incorrect logins (which was news to me as the last login had been sucessful) No Captcha.

Very frustrating when you're dying to reply to something :D

Just had the same problem again:
  • To many failed login attempts
-> certainly not done by me!
  • No CAPTCHA
  • -> I needed to use "I forgot my password" to get in.

Well, I was logging-in to comment on this post - and hit the same issue! In fact, I entered my User Name and the message (screenshot below) locked me out BEFORE I could enter my password - which is auto-filled by FireFox.

Now, my comment: It does not seem that the PB team have noticed the comments on this post. I think this is very likely to be because the title is not specific enough. It should be something like 'PureBasic Forum Login has serious bugs'.

1) Incorrectly pops-up 'too many log-in attempts' when there has not even been a completed log-in attempt; Could it be that it is including successful logins? I have often logged-in 4 or 5 times in one day.

2) The Captcha is completely missing from the page.

I don't know if you overlooked it or what, but Fred has noticed it and is probably reminded every few hours by new postings in this thread, that state the same and the same again.

I for once use "stay logged in". So that only happened once to me (I have no idea why my session cookie was gone / not recognized anymore by the board software).
Has this happened only once to everybody, or is it like every visit?

But you're right about the title. At first it seemed like an isolated problem bugging only a single person.

BTW: You should use thumbnails. Your overly large embedded picture is destroying the board layout and forcing me to scroll horizontally in this thread (on this page).

Hello TomS

Yup, sorry about the screenshot, I have corrected it. I didn't know that Fred knew about the issue, it certainly seemed like nobody knew because it should be very simple to fix.....(famous last words! )

And I too have just been caught with my pants down with this login bug... But no way for me to retrieve my former account as the damn old email address is broken. and I am sure I changed that a while ago :(

....actually the forum has been rather quite this year, could it be that some people just cannot get back on to it?

Well I have posted today under my main account, and been quite active lately... So I doubt it's due to people inactivity as this only happened after the captcha modifications.

I'm not all that bothered by losing the account haha, it is just annoying :P
