Unless you are a one man band, you do need a backing band. If dance music is your thing, it is not uncommon to have dancers on stage. You are the only person I have ever seen accuse her of lip-synching.
I guess you think Alice Cooper sucks because he has a backing band and his stage show can be quite a theatrical production at times (depending on the tour).
