shanarra, if you want to know, anybody is welcome, as everybody has his own personal habits that may or may not annoy someone else (for a fact, i know i annoy people as i refuse to use capitals in my email ) BUT HEY, IT'S BETTER THAN CAPITALS ONLY

anyway, trolling in my book is any 'overstatement' that may not be intended to rouse or flame, but will cause emotial responses by pressing the wrong buttons, and forgive me if i say so, but you do manage to... how should i put this... 'enlarge' your opinion

you may consider toning down a little, and sticking to the facts, instead of saying things like...

it does not add anything productive, what i might suggest is something similar like:

wow, i think the vd may not have used the smartest approach, i wonder if that's due to limitations in purebasic, or just something i overlooked?

you're saying exactly the same thing (well, more or less ) but people will not be offended

besides, i think, and i guess many with me, you may want to show some of those hacks you are talking about, so we all can learn something from them...

Admitting to racism is usually a bad thing. And can do wonders to a reputation...

I have noticed that most of the people who have a problem with me, have the mentality of a 12-yo.. basically a "slashdotter". That does not concern me, as I ignore such people and focus on serious matters. (One of Life's many lessons )

I also noticed the remaining percent are very mature people and converse in a very mature manner. OldFoxx comes to mind. I swear, everytime I read his replies, I learn a lot more then I ever thought I would. He is an excellent teacher, and I wish he would post more often on these forums. Paul of the PV fame, comes to mind, falling under this category.

I respond to insults with their own kind. Hell yeah, I'll stoop to the kids' level. As posted in a recent previous thread that was deleted w/ no reason given, People who say "never stoop to their level", never truely live. These kind of people never go away, unless you make them go away....

That definition of "trolling" is much less... harsh the the one I know of. When I post things, when I realized I was wrong, I post that as well. Other things.. like here...

I wasnt putting down VD. I was talking about ALL visual designers. In order to do the sizing (to name one) via mouse directly onto a window, or control, requires a use of an API. Agh, I thought I explained that in my last post.

well, for one, the use of an api is not exactly hacking, is it?

Well, lets say just this: Pissing off the developpers of the very product you
use is always a bad move.

Keep that in mind when you post your next feature request...


I think you really don't get what the problem here is. It's not about you, or where you
come from. I don't have any proplem with your person whatsoever (at least until you accused me of being a 'slashdotter', whatever that might be)
The proplem is the stuff you post, and the way you post it.

Whenever you seem to have a problem, you look for the source of it with somewhere else.
You have posted numerous bug reports where you stated with all certainty that
this and that was wrong with PB. Mostly, you couldn't even provide a
code that showed the problem.
In the end, most of such posts turn out to be your own fault.

See this one for example: viewtopic.php?t=12890
The Help clearly states that 3dSprites must be in a power of 2. Yet you
accuse PB of having a bug instead of just reading the Manual.

If this was something that happens occationally then i would have no problem with it,
we all make mistakes. But you seem to do it that way all the time.

And in almost every post of yours, you show a bad view of PB. Things
like "there are *many* hacks needed to PB in order to provide a nice usable designer. Take a gander at the Visual Designer source available via CVS. Hacks beyond belief"

This is just plain wrong. Don't you see that with such statements that are
based on absolutely nothing you hurt the image of PB as a language??

And then you post things like: 'if nobody can show me a solution to this, i will
have to use VB again...'

As I have said before: If you really beleive PB is that bad to work with,
why do you still use it?
Yet you still use it, so my guess is you like it, like the rest of us as well.
Do you not wish the PB userbase to grow then? Well, let me tell you what,
your statements in this forum affect the opposite.

Here is my advice to you. Try the beginners section before posting everything
as a bug, and loose that negative talk in most of your posts.
We can all live happily together.. it's not that hard...

Since people are responsible for their own actions, I cannot help the developers who love to get ticked off at my posts whether warrented or not. As for a bad move for me... what?

I only accused people who have shown to have a 12-yo mentality as a slashdotter. As by your replies, you are mature Why would I relate you to them? Anyways, a slashdotter, is basically a term used for the "Slashdot.com" community. Ever take a gander at their posts? Both the community and the scum who runs the site are basically 12-year olds. Unfortunately, OSnews.com have been sliding into the same slime pit as Slashdot.

I agree that some post turns out to be my fault, and I clearly post that as well. As in your example. As for not being able to provide the code w/ the problem, where have you seen that?

I would say roughly on the low end of 50% of my posts, comments on features (or incomplete features) PB lacks. My Feature Lists/ Beginner/ and Bug Reports, supports that.

As for the VD example, how you see that? As mentioned in that thread, the hacks referred to are use of WinAPI, instead of native PB commands. If using API makes the language looks bad, I suppose that is in the eyes of the reader.

As for the VB comment. I admit, threatening to move back to a more mature language is a mistake For the record, that was the PB Server thread I believe. And I did move back to VB (for server side), until PB's network library is complete and have matured.

I use PB for a few reasons. No runtime libraries, smallish executables, reasonably fast execution speeds, and the kicker, it has partial cross-platform support. For a basic language, that is amazing. But with those benefits, there are incomplete features, broken libraries, and missing features. However, most languages have those problems.

The main reason I stick with PB, is the hope that one day, PB will be a full cross platform language, as advertised. Plus I use it on the client side due to runtime issues and the like VB is plague with. No need to cart around a 5MB RTL, when a 20K exe does the job just fine.

If my comments or posts give the opposite of PB.. what kind of opposite? The kind where people read the posts and realized PB does not compete in their area of expertise in another language? Or maybe they read the posts and realize PB is exactly what they need. It works both ways For some PB just do not compare with other languages. For others, it's perfect. For those like me, it's on the border line, and each release either breaks or makes it.

For example. I am currently using PB 3.91 Final for my client networking due to the SendNetworkString bug in 3.92 Final. It does not exist in the older version.
