I agree, the only real way a computer could safely drive a car is if all cars were computer driven and that there was some fool proof way for computer to be able to sense the road, other cars, etc. In other words, take humans completely out of the picture, a "driver" would simply get in and select where he wants to go and the car does the rest including parking itself.Mohawk70 wrote:My main point is that a machine is no replacement for the judgement of a human being ( as deficient as that may be at times).
Well, with that in mind and that a pilot's license is required, then I have to side with Vera and ask why even bother? A small airplane like a Cesna would probably be cheaper and safer than a "flying car". On top of that flying cars would likely be treated the same as small airplanes by the NTSB and the FAA so you'd still have all the responsibilities and requirements an airplane owner currently has. At the end of the day, the flying car owner/pilot is no different than a small airplane owner/pilot.Mohawk70 wrote:The article does state that they can only take off & land at airstrips/airports.
@ Baldrick
I'm kind of surprised you didn't look at local commuter airlines for those longer trips. Or did you?
