PureGDK is not more expensive than Leadwerks. €94.99 vs €84.99. If you purchase the PureGDK Upgrade from PureGDK.com you do not have to pay VAT.

You need DarkBasic Professional (unless you purchase PureGDK Complete) because this is the 3D engine.

Leadwerks Engine cost $150.00 while PureGDK Complete cost $129.99

If you buy directly from Leadwerks.com it costs $150 via PayPal which is ca. 97 euro.

If I buy the complete pack from thegamecreators it costs ca. 85 euro + 17% VAT = ca. 100 euro.
If I buy just DarkBasicPro from thegamecreators and PureGDK direct from Mistrel its ca. 93 euro.

So you could say it's roughly the same. At least for me it would be the same which is a shame. I can't believe thegamecreators force me to buy DBPro AND the PureGDK. I don't want DBPro. Why would I want DBPro if I'm gonna use PureBasic? They should just strip down the elements of DBPro, exclude compiler and all and make the complete pack available for 60 euro or something like that. And there is also NO direct link from the navigation. To purchase I'll either have to buy DBPro and go to Mistrels site, or look for the link in the newsletter. I feel sorry for mistrel. He has put quite an effort into that and PureGDK is treaten like crap while the Leadwerks Engine 2 is heavily promoted :( I still don't know what to chose...

You don't have to use DBP for anything. It just comes as part of the bundle because you need a valid license in order to use the engine.

I've already stripped the engine down to only the necessary components. The PureGDK Complete installer is completely stand-alone and does not require DBP to be pre-installed.

The price wasn't my call. TGC doesn't want to support sub-licensing the DBP engine so it was bundle the entire thing or nothing. PureGDK piggy-backs on DBP's plugin system instead of rewriting the entire engine for PureBasic (like DarkGDK does for C++). The benefit of this is that it's 100% compatible with updates and third-party plugins.

There were a couple bumps getting things ready for TGC. Mike sent me an e-mail today giving the OK and informed me that he'll sort out the links on the website shortly so I believe the proper links will be added soon.

I think the Leadwerks Engine was just a stroke of bad luck. I've only looked over it briefly by I didn't see anything that DBP can't do already. DBP (PureGDK) is still more feature rich than Leadwerks.

Don't forget to take into consideration all of the plugins that are available for DBP: Advanced Sprites, eXtends, DarkPhysics, Netwon, Matrix1Util, D3DFunc, Multisync, Tempest, Styx, and tons more.

Leadwerks Engine appears to be object oriented as well, so if you would like to use it with PureBasic then you will have a lot of work to do before you can start programming with it.

Yeah, overall I'm more like going with PureGDK.

Hi,

I've been testing PureGDK for 2 weeks now. So far, it's perfect!
I've been able to write a full fledged screensaver (with preview in the tiny screensaver selection screen, parameters, on resume password protection, ...) with PureGDK doing all the rendering. It took me 2 minutes to adapt my already existing screensaver code (written in PureBasic) to use PureGDK for the rendering!

For those who already own PureBasic and DarkBasic Pro (with some TPC) PureGDK is really worth its money.

Another point in favor of PureGDK is the fact you can test it extensively before buying...which is for the moment not the case with LeadWerk Engine 2.0...
...and as Mistrel wrote: there is nothing in the LeadWerk Engine features list that DBPro is not already doing.

Don't hesitate anymore...PureGDK is a wise choice.

Hello,

did you try to use physic engine in pure gdk?
In the past I used dark basic pro and dark physic, but I found a lot of problems (many limitations) and it was very buggy.

Both DarkPhysics and Newton are supported. Check the help file for the right version.

PureGDK is being updated for DBP 7.1. If anyone has a bug they need fixed now is the time to say something.

Will you be updating for Purebasic 4.3 (which by the looks of it should just about be stable and ready for final release) ?
THanks
Matthew

The plan is to get everything up to date for 4.20 and then transition to 4.30. I think I'll keep support for 4.20 for this next version in addition to 4.30 so people can make a transition, just like the current version is for 4.10 and 4.20 right now.

I'm not sure if it will make it into this release but I'm re-working all of the strings into a resource table so that I can make localized releases for other languages.

Mistrel, I wanted to buy PureGDK (I have already DBPro license plus the license of many plugins ;-) ) but I noticed that, in the puregdk site, you still say that PureGDK support DBPro 6.7 and not 7.1....

So, what's the truth?

I'm in the process of updating PureGDK to work with DBP 7.1, plus bug fixes and enhancements. The earliest release will be once DBP 7.1 is out of beta.

I just bought it! :D

One question: now can I install free pplugins (e.g.: I need Newton engine just to test and compare with Ageia)?
