That figures...the only web page with problems loading is srod's own. He has put the whammy on me and now all my future coding efforts will fail for sure. Be careful srod or I send Fangles over there to have a whack at you :P

Seriously though, I know where the failure occurs...I just don't know why it's failing :?

It is strange. It's the only site, of the bunch I've tried, which fails to load. Indeed, on those occasions where it appears to succeed it ends up displaying the image from the previously loaded page instead!

Of my own sites that I tried, the only distinguishing feature of the one which fails to load is the fact that it uses Google AdSense. I'm not sure that would make any difference though?

Sparkie, it's not that I don't want to whack srod for you but he enjoys it far too much and the moans of pleasure caused the neighbours to call the police and have me arrested, they thought I was running a brothel!!!

No more favours like that for you mate, the bail is costing me a fortune!!

That's ok Fangles. As it turns out, srod may not be at fault afterall. Now go apologize to him and his neighbors. 8)

New version uploaded (Alpha3 link in first post) to fix all reported bugs except the Opera issue and the loading of srod's web page. :?

Thanks rsts :)

I am still digging into the srod page not loading. It seems it may be related to a !DOCTYPE tag messing with the IHTMLBodyElement interface. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow :)

Aye, much better sparks. :)

Wondered if it wouldn't be better though if the selection box scrolled the window whenever the captured cursor drifts beyond the bounds of the window? Should be relatively easy to add.

Just a suggestion.

By the way, how do you convert a webpage to an image - if you don't mind me asking? Do you just capture the contents of a hidden web gadget or is it more sophisticated? Just out of curiosity like!

Sure it does. Has from the first beta. Try this and you'll see:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1

@Sparkie: Is ClipTaxi the app's name? Because www.cliptaxi.com is taken. :)

My experience with my bank site reflects jpd's.

if you're logged in, cliptaxie displays the login (not logged in) site.

Well, that's obvious then because there's no way for ClipTaxi to send your
user names and passwords. :)

Yes, quite obvious to you and me, however probably worthy of a comment in the documentation in case Sparkie has users who were expecting to see a 'mirror' of the screen and just might not understand why they didn't.
