heard it over here, awesome stuff, love it, If I were a newspaper agent I would make comics of religion people a weekly series.
hehe :D
you should know what mess the danish government had when they tried to explain why the drawers would not be punished. But truth to say, we do it with every religion. Not only theirs!

And the result: they burned our flags and spitted on pictures of our prime minister.

oh btw, my personal favorite of the drawings where the one where Muhammed had a bomb in his turban hehe.

They just can't accept that we are a free country. If I bite the head of a jesus doll, I could not be charged. The government did say that they did not support the newspaper, but that it was a free country and the newspaper could do as they want to do. The newspaper itself got a bit scared of the reaction and decided to stop posting them as far as i remember.

The thing is, we have to be more carefull. Not everybody seems to know our humor hehe

And the terrorists are making inroads, destroying the freedom, for which the people in the western world have fought for centuries, based on hundreds of years of philosophy and people like Imanuel Kant. Even defeating Hitler in the end saving our culture from death.
Probably the only reason our culture survied the Nazi time being that it lasted less than a generation and it's impact on the way the children were brought up was relatively small.
But we have learned from it and therefore the thousands of lives lost during WWII both civilian, resistors and last but not least allied soldiers including Americans (thank you guys for the only war you faught with a really positve outcome) were not lost for nothing.
It's really not only our lives we may loose (which we are much more likely to loose in car accidents) but our freedom and culture. The problem is that many politicians here in Europe and in America aswell don't see this and use the terrorists to abolish the freedom and right they as politicians need to fear because they control and supervise their power. Just look at the way surveilance is used to smash up peoples freedom.
It's not dead bodies paving the way to the terrorists goal but abolished laws and freedoms that will help them to destroy the worthies things we as the human race have head.

Old enough to know that I broke the rules we discussed ealier this day, so well Fred and Bericko you might want to ban or warn me, but remember that I never attacked anyone personally on these forums. Nonetheless I commit myself guilty of braking those new rules.
Guess I'm in need for a forum with a community as international and educated as this one which doesn't forbid me my mouth (or my finger tips)
It was a nice time I guess but the best thing in these forums were the discussions about the now banned topics, I'll miss them.

I was just asking, because different generations got differently filtered information,
and one needs really a lot of years to get behind all the filters.
your statements sound like you are somewhere in the middle of the way, thus I asked about your age.
oh... and have a nice day.

that's fine. I could have guessed up to 23...
be aware, that you have overcome some filters, but there are a lot more filters ahead.
both metioned problems, the history of the 3rd Reich, and Terrorists,
are really complex multidimensional logic systems.
carry on.
oh... and have a nice day.

Kaeru-san is old enough to condescend ;)

What are these filters that are we talking about?

@pdwyer: Note: I do not speak for Kaeru-san,
the filters are how reality or truth is colored before you receive it. A similiar american term would be the spin placed on something. You have to look past the filter to see something without any loss of information.

A good example is a major news story, all the news networks will report the story but no two will be reported the same way or provide the same "truths".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

I taught 6th grade Art and Computer Science in Middle School for 10 years... not once... in 10 years... could a 6th grader draw a 2 inch line (using a ruler) unless he went from the 1 inch mark to the 2 inch mark.
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

If you walk from the one inch mark to the two inch mark you have 1 inch line. Except for, if you are on a spaceship flying pretty fast and someone is looking at your line. :D

I guess the average American isn't too smart because of their education system. I think the problem is, that you aren't forced to take hight classes and that you can practically pass hightschool by taking Auto classes and low Math etc. But on the other hand, if you try to learn stuff in hightschool it is also possible, for example my girlfriend. She's an honorstudent and I wouldn't say she's more dumm than I am. And in some cases I beliefe that hightschools are even better than ,at least, German schools. They learn how to write with 10 fingers in school. I think that is cool.
Apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how was the show?

We British are becoming Americans, because we have completely adopted their culture.

When the kid says George Bush is the prime minister of England, he wasn't so stupid.

(This is directed at no-one in particular)

You know, if you are convinced "Americans" as a group are stupid through the news media (your own or ours), you aren't exactly the brightest apple on the tree...

Our idiots happen to be on TV because the smart people have better things to do.

News sources sell you what you want to hear. That's how they get more circulation or viewers, hence charge more for the advertising.

You all want to believe we American's are stupid so guess what they're going to show you? Catering to the common man's ego is the best way for them to increase their audience.
