Come on! How was i to know that

True, I could've been a bit more clear in my rant, rather than come across as
being a bit racist. Thanks for alerting me to MY folly!

So, perhaps, i should title all my posts as '[Solved but too dumb to understand]'?

As a community it seems we are willing to analyse and debate just about everything!


Maybe we should set up a committee to discuss this?

If we get a resolution we can either put [SOLVED] - or not - in the thread title, this subject of course to the conclusions drawn by the committee.

The first thing, of course, is to determine who will be represented on the committee. All viewpoints need articulate spokespeople. This process alone should see us through to 2008. Jobs ensured.

Once a committee is approved, it can request submissions on what is or is not acceptable regarding [SOLVED], [RESOLVED], or nothing at all, or something else altogehter. This will define the agenda and the parameters.

At which point, of course, we might find our committee does not properly represent all viewpoints and so we might need to establish another committee.

I always considered that adding solved/resolved to a post in the coding forum was just being polite; basically telling people that they needn't waste their time as such. Particularly if my original question was a real dumb-arse question! To be honest, I don't post questions in the coding forum for the benefit of newbies, or anyone else for that matter; just for my own benefit. I ask when I'm stuck on a problem.

Of course I take the point that it may discourage someone from posting a better solution, but in my experience of these forums, that doesn't happen a great deal. There are loads of posts in which multiple solutions have been posted, some clearly better than others. Hell there's one sitting at the top of the coding forum right now! If I post a dumb solution (which is quite often! ) then I fully endorse someone else posting a better one. I'd be an idiot not to.

No, I'd be as happy still adding solved/resolved to my questions posted in the coding forums.

I guess your referring to me? Well you can run a spell check on my posts for me 'cos to be frank, i can't be arsed! :roll: nit picking on spelling is bit lame especially when most of the community is not english and the other is drunk!

The members of the forum can be split to two parts (doing it rather rough). The part that programs for others, and the part who programs for themself.

I frankly ever help, but then again how often do i ask questions? I try to keep a balance. I do program a lot though, and i can't say that it doesn't give me a rather good deal of money.
Especially the huge projects i am on with a fellow pb user, seems to have a good future (We will have some releases for you to see, soon).

Some people have a good smack on the + side of their balance, some of the -. The important thing is that no one really keeps an eye on it. It seems like some people are just happy to help, and i'm happy to have them here in case I really get stuck.

So whats the point of this? I don't have any idea

My viewpoint on the [solved] stuff?
As stated earlier, there are so many ways to solve things. If me and my programming partner get the same problem we end up with two completely different solutions, which gives us a great power because we think so different. If someone has a great idea to an allready solved thing, why should it not be for benefit of others?

Thats the thing of this world. The same thing can have multible viewpoints (transferred: the same problem can have multible solutions). THATS why it should allways be open

I wasn't, actually. I was just being general, as I see it everywhere these days,
and I bet it ends up becoming accepted English because of the common use.

Figured I must be in the 1/2 that aren't English, but I am Aussie, so I guess that must mean I qualify to sit on the fence on this 1

By the way, removing it from your own topic would probably be a good start?

(I think it shouldn't be allowed to write it in all caps, it's very annoying.)
