I am sure Fred has already noticed that I'm using an illegal version, but why doesn't he ban me.. now that's something I don't understand

I mean, it is sufficient to use an illegal version to get banned, right?

Bericko, where is your AK47 riffle?!!

These guys are in their needs bleeding, suffering, approach them like in the
movies and shoot them in their heads.... stop their pain :P

Would be better if he buys PB now....banning does not gives Fred what he deserves...

Why is he so keen to get banned? I don't quite understand the approach that he is taking.

Thanks for clarifying.. I would buy PB, but it seems like it's impossible with a Visa Electron. Anyway, I think that I am so "keen" to get banned because I have betrayed the whole community by lying and using an illegal version of commercial software, so I thought it would be better if no one would ever see me again around here because I am somehow a cyber-criminal.

Only thing I can think of (wild guess alert) is some forum hack that requires a known banned account, whith that in mind, I wouldn't ban him.

On the forums I administer, I'd just set him to indefinite moderation, that way I could see his postings before anyone else does.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, I mean this guy is almost begging to be banned.

Either that or it's all an April Fool's joke, and a rather sick one at that....

Well, if it is a April Fool's joke, that's not funny at all.

This is not an April Fool's joke, because:
Posted: Sat Mar 31, 2007 9:13 pm Post subject: Forgive me Fred..

I made this topic a day before April Fool's day, and in that time I didn't even remember tomorrow (*today*) would be April Fool's day.. Also, this is not a case of a phpBB forum hack.

Fred, I am waiting your response to this.

That's odd, I used my Visa Electron card to buy PB. ;)

No need for smilies.. I said that because I didn't see the Electron logo in the purchase page.. but if you purchased PB with Electron, then I think I'll buy PB if I have enough $$ in my Electron.

This has to be the most bazaar post I've ever seen!

Why the hell would anyone draw attention to the fact that they were using a ripped off version of PB? And then why would that idiot beg to be banned?

Uhm, reminds me of someone else who used to frequent these forums...

Well... A few years ago when I was an idiot standing in front of class sizes with 40+ 12 year olds... I got my Masters Degree in Educational Psychology.

I can sum this up in one word... "GUILT"

Guilt is a very powerful thing. It eats at the spirit and preys on the psyche. To those who feel guilt it equates in them a feeling of somehow being less than acceptable to their peer group.

PB Peer group is represented here on the PB Board.

I think a different punishment is in order. Something that will settle Merihovens mind and allow retribution. Banning on an open forum would simply be like allowing him to change his name. There is no way to see if a name / user is real.

I mean look at all the viagra posts etc.

Merihoven, aside from being banned... come up with a different punishment.

I can't see as guilt should really come into this; all the guy has to do is buy a proper PB licence, and problem solved. Fred would, I'm sure, hardly batter an eye lid at this 'indiscretion'. It's a fact of life that warez sites exists, we're not going to stop them any time soon.

Sure, there's nothing wrong I guess in coming clean and apologising, fine. But why all the begging to be banned? That's the part I find puzzling.

Just do what's right and get on with more important things.

Absolutely!

I'm not proud to admit it, but years ago I was very bad, most of the software I had was pirated. :(

But a few years ago I "wised up" (or guilt got to me), and over the year made keep or don't keep decisions on every piece of software I had, those I kept, I paid for, those I chose not to pay for I removed all traces of them.

Now I take great pains to make sure that every piece of software I have is properly licensed.

I still on the rare occasion that no trial or demo is offered, look to warez or torrent downloads to get a copy for evaluation. If I like it, I have no problem paying for it, if I don't like it, all traces are removed.

I've been burned too many times by software that either I can't use, doesn't fit my needs, or is just plain junk, to be willing to buy it without being able to try it first.
