Combine with localmotion34's comment about to keep updating. Just do it all the time. Rotate things in the protector, too.kinglestat wrote:btw thefool, I had missed out your post so I answer you now
To be honest, I DID find a solution to that problem (I think)
And I am using a known hacking technique...this time to my advantage.
Keep in mind my intention is to release it as a DLL which goes against the approach of integrated library. The idea is that a hacker will think its easier to crack...but its the opposite. I find this a flaw in many of the general protectors (execryptor for example). From my point of view, a hacker doesnt know anything of my techniques because I am trying to be original! And for sure this will by time! And with time I will keep improving! (I suspect I will keep having bugs!!)
The only flaw I can see in my own apprach is (and generally this is true with any security system) that an insider (either myself or the client) can give out a "key". That would create an opening. I have no reason to shoot myself in the leg. And I guess nor does the client! The "key" is a part of the template file.
cheers

Heck, my 2 cents ...
Purebasic programs are so small that crackers won't even bother cracking them...
They will just buy a legit licence and distribute the full app with a registered key.
It is impossible to stop a cracker, sure you can make their life hell, but that will just make them keep comming back for more.
If your market target is within the hundreds, don't even bother, no one will get interested in cracking your app, it's a too small fish.
Never the less your work is quite interesting and might even be of some value to other developers.

Agree.localmotion34 wrote: But, if you update every week, a person finding these links a month later will end up downloading your UPDATED software, which of course will NOT accept serials from the keygen, or be able to be patched with the crack.
An additional tip is NOT to change the version on every update.
Then if you have, lets say version 1.2.1 do some changes and upload it as 1.2.1 so even keygen for v1.2.1 will not work anymore.
In my experience, the idea that is "lossing time to fight against cracks because real user always buy" is just a myth.
If there is a keygen or crack available for your app, your sales will goes down.
If there is no keygen/crack available for new version, your sales could raise up, ofcourse depending on the popularity of your software.
People uses a crack if there is one available, thats a fact. Maybe not 100% of people, but many does.
At this time, in my opinion, marketing and anticracking are as much important as coding or maybe even more...
About marketing... 2 tips (from snapfiles.com):
1.-
1.-
2.-Please note: Audio & Video Conversion software
Due to the large number of available conversion products (that basically all do the same thing), we are only accepting a very limited range of audio & video conversion software. Products will be listed on a "as needed" basis. Priority and Express submissions for audio & video conversion products are not accepted.
I feel that some kind of software will be more popular in the next month/years.We are only accepting a limited range of products, mostly focused on Internet/LAN specific software and various System Tools and Utilities.

definetly some interesting news / tips.
I have decided to alter slightly my plan. Upon registering the demo, each client will recieve a diff DLL...was infact a suggestion provided so I agree.
Re constant updates: a definite yes. But keep in mind it doesnt really depend on me. I am selling the security system...whoever buys it has to do the same - and not every client will want to keep installing and updating his code to include my latest changes to give to his client
I think a good idea would be to have a "spy" in the hack clans!! that might prove useful!
cheers
