And Deem is also a german user, and he told about PB.Net there, that's also why most Germans here know about it.

oh, what does you make being a "regular"?

I started programming with PB in 2003,
and I'm programming other Basics and C and ASM for over 24 years now.

no, I'm no Regular, I'm a Veteran. ;)

it's amazing how you prejudge about things you never heard about.
Not prejudging, but very sceptical.

What is the license of PureBasic.NET? If Fred has reliquished the rights to the name and allows a third party to copy the entire command-set while distributing it under the moniker 'PureBasic.NET' then the PureBasic brand means nothing and Fred has been very stupid indeed. What then stops the rest of us from creating our own PureBasic compiler and selling it under the same name?

There is no license in the moment. It's a experimentell dev project. There is
only a testing alpha release. PB.NET doesn't exist official. But when he
comes, he comes from Fantaisia Software.
Fred is informed of this, since the beginning

Sorry to keep this going, but I've taken a job and I showed the guy this platform (he's got me checking C# as he uses such too, which accesses the .NET side of things).

So, full circle I come, is this a real deal in the works? Anyone official like Fred at PB, can you or will you help clear this up before it flames out crazy like here?

TIA

ps. I had fun showing how powerful PB was today!

the regulars here. Guess I'm a bit disappointed. But hey, people change.
They say it's a development experiment. I guess Fred will announce it when it's sure it's going to be completed.

I belive it is better Fred improve, optimize and add features to the native PB versions (Windows, Linux, MacOS).

If you want to use .NET use Visual Studio oder die free Express Editions.
All others are only reproductions!

There was an article/interview about pb.NET in the PB.CM Magazin #1 - I support the Idea of running PB.NET very much - though I'm a Linux user (I use Mono instead). Deem said in the interview, that he discussed these issues with fred - why should he lie??

The Idea is good. Just think of cPython, pPython, IronPython and Jython! The same language, the same command set, implemented in several languages. Great idea!

Pb.fred and pb.Net are not concurrent, I think - they are a great complement to each other!
And since Fred has AFAIK nothing to do with the active pb.net development,
he can concentrate on "his" pb.

Peace.

Correct me if i'm wrong but those languages that freely downloadable and do not encroach on any commericial interests. PureBasic is a commercial language and as such will be damaged by unofficial releases bearing the same name.

do we really have to repeat, that PB.net is an experiment and no official release?
that there never was any intension to use the name "PureBASIC" illegally?

are you upset that Deeem din't ask your permission when starting the experiment?

well, he asked Fred, so it's YOUR problem, if Fred didn't tell you rightaway....

hey, mate, you wrote a book, your not a bishop of the religion "purebasic", so what.....

the other way round....
do you want everybody who tries something out in PB to stop it....?
