Changing border type on string and text gadgets

I must have misunderstood because the link shows how to vertically centre text within a multiline string gadget. You need to look towards the bottom of the post for the relevant examples!

Well, multiline string and edit gadgets are pretty much the same thing in this context. I'm trying to manipulate a single line text/string object of "arbitrary" height such that the text is centred vertically. However, I don't think it can be done (for the reason stated in my other post).

BTW, don't be disheartened, srod -- it was a good try on your part and I really do appreciate your interest.
