Re: Shocking rumor regarding Fred's absence...
I have information about some other companies. One being mentioned
on these forums in the past week or so. All I can say is that I hope that
Fred does not sign over his soul to this other company. They will offer
him a salary and promise to do all his marketing, etc.
The salary is obviously better than no salary for his works. But in the
end, if everything is not looked at in detail. This language will fall off
net quicker than it got here.
I know this. This is not a rumor.
@Fred -- be VERY wise. (I don't want to go buy C++ for dummies..)

I hope that's not true - I like PureBASIC because it doesn't have OOP and all that, let's hide everything from the programmer stuff, which can lead to an inefficient coding mess if you're not careful.
OOP on the surface seems like a good idea, but I've been using procedural languages for so long it seems unnatural to me in practice, and procedural languages are probably more efficient anyway.

If Fred gets out of money I'm sure most of us (including me) are willing to give him a donation, maybe for an Intel Mac? I have no paypal account but if I can donate some money directly to a bank account that will be fine...

Absences for this length have occurred in the past. Nothing unusual to me.

Name your sources or shut up, because spreading unsubstantiated crap like
this is not nice. It causes all sorts of anger and resentment. So where'd you
hear it?

Legally, no. The contract you made was with Fred/Fantaisie only, and any
new company is not bound by that contract. If Kale's rumour is true, then
all I can say is I guess I'm glad I did keep my VB5 package after all.

I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Well, if PureBasic is for sale, I am making a bid:
For full sources: $0.50
For ongoing support by Fred and crew: $0.25 / mth, 12 months.
I should see a profit on the first sale of a licence!
I might even double that bid!
BTW, noticed how many Basics died away right after being sold to a 3rd party? Some were revived later, by original authors (eg Blitz and iBasic (after first sale) - both went to Idigicon. iBasic looks lost after the second sale)
Know of any that survived and thrived after the original sale?

Re: Shocking rumor regarding Fred's absence...
There is nothing going on here, so stop the speculation.
I would apprechiate it if people would not spread such speculation without
even the slightest proof to what they are saying. So either show what gives
you the idea, or just keep your so called "information" to yourself instead of
fueling an unneeded panic.

I think this kind of information must be verified by the PureBasic team.freak wrote:There is nothing going on here, so stop the speculation.

DO not allow other people in this forum spread out this kind of rumours
because are dangerous for the ones loving(and working with) PureBasic.
As you see is not only Kale .... other one says for real there are companies in contact with Fred....
If this is true is bad for us because we dont know what can happen with PB...
If it is false or we are not 100% sure then we must stop posting unverified information.
