Is that in the Indian Ocean?

@thefool, some dealers have good deals on various "older" models.
The cheapest place I know for cars are England. There you can get a small car for £7.000,- Here that is what you pay for an old small car.

Hm this is true for some.. but my dad earns a 6 chifre dkr amount so i don't complain ;)

its a good idea though. If we moved to turkey i could drive my own Lotus Elise to school and live in a 2000 m2 house ;)
GeoTrail wrote:Yeah but thats an itty bitty small Benz. My uncle bought a used BMW 748SLi not long ago, 2003 model I think, it cost hime 1.200.000NOK. and that's for a used car.

Ok, lets talk prices, how about two of the most important once? Beers and smokes? hehehehe

A pack with 20 cigarettes costs 76 kroners here, and a 6 pack of "cheap" beer costs around 80 if I remember correctly.
The bmw is more expensive here..

Alcohol and smokes are more expensive at your place, that is correct. But eh; the other stuff.

;) you cannot get a car for 7000 pounds in denmark. And there is no question denmark is more expensive, as it is the worlds most expensive place to buy a car.
Eventually old cars in denmark arents that bad. you can get an old bmw 720 from 1975 all smashed up for only 1500 pounds! And we cannot just buy cars from other countries. the duty needs to be added all the time.

In germany, many big cars are about 1/3 of danish prices..

It is expensive to buy a car in Denmark compared to other countries. The reason is the high duty on cars.

The price of new cars usually does not differ among car dealers. It is advisable to investigate the market before buying a used car, because these prices can differ substantially.
Now lets talk about internet. i pay 480nok a month for a 1mbit/128kbit.

20 Smokes in Switzerland: 5.60 CHF, about 28.25 NOK
6 Pack Beer : 6 x 1.20 CHF, 36.30 NOK

I read in the paper the other day about what it cost to register a new truck. A semi or similar, in Sweden I think it was, it costs around 5000 NOK, but here in Norway it costs FROM 100.000 NOK and up depending on the vehicles weight and size. And that is just to go to the DMV with the sales papers and insurance papers to get your name in the computer and have the registration printed out. The DMV has a really high hourly rate, or should I say rate-per-keyboard-stroke hehehehe.

(DMV=Department for Motor Vehicles)

A similar connection in Switzerland costs about the same, except for the 80% we pay in addition...
Damn, that is amazing, that kinda puts things in perspective here. And I thought we were expensive.

How abour gasoline?

Right now 1 litre of 95 unleaded costs 12,23 NOK. Can anyone beat that? And remember, Norway is the worlds third largest exporter of crued oil.

Costs in the low lands..

Many people in Norway imports new cars from Denmark (have to pay norwegian taxes though, but not the danish taxes), because the cars in Denmark are the cheapest in Europe if you take away the taxes.
