If Fred updated his Linux mashine to say Debian etch or Ubuntu or another more modern distro I'm sure the problem will be solved easily it's probably only a recmopile with the new libs needed, I don't know though

I recommend Mandriva. Stable, Easy like Suse, good Hardwaresupport.
I had some Problems with Suse, since it sometimes uses its own directories for some files and in the OSS Edition you need to add the GTK-devels manually.
Mandriva has a nice Packetmanagement, that is as easy as APT. I love Mandriva. (btw: its a french distro)

don't know what you mean by "manually", but said that in another thread:
just add some online repos to a package manager of your choice.

Well as I am an absolute debian lover (we have debian sarge on our server, and I have Ubuntu Dapper Drake on the laptop I'm using atm), I recommend Debian etch, MEPIS, Ubuntu and other Debian based Systems

What about releasing an extra GPLed library?

(By the way: I personally recommend SuSE Linux 10.0 [not 10.1])

Yep - which is why I don't use KBASIC.

Sweet, cant wait until PB4/Linux is out :) Beach mentioned on re-releasing PureWinLin (?) with PB4 once it comes out .. this is going to be neat!

As I didn't manage to get PureWinLins X-Server running in my own conversion to VMWare-Player maybe this version could be released for VMWare-Player... btw its not only nice as PureWinLin but also as PureLinLin^^
helps testing software in a secure way and a lot easier than on my DamnSmall qemu image.

Yep... I've been thinking about getting another version going now that all these virtual machine players are being released free. The cool thing about QEMU is that it is really small and is not as invasive to install (unless you use the accelerated graphics option). I will go ahead and start working on the image.

Send me any requests you have Shannara.

Definitely want to have the right GTK2 packages loaded so that the GTK2 version of the IDE works properly.

Sounds cool Beach. Maybe you could tell us how you did/do it, so we all can learn form it... if you need help don't hesitate to ask.

Whi is it not an option to develop applications under the GPL?

Because the pb compiler isnt open source not many people would be willing to accept a GPL purebasic program as truly open source

You also can release the commented ASM code ;)
For ASM there are open source compilers.

But you have to supply the libs which are not GPLed...
