I have checked about Monad
MONAD is the codename of Microsoft Longhorn Command Shell.

So therefore MCH = MONAD

Thanks everybody, especially xonTAB for the screenshots  I really appreciate the time and help.

I have been working many months on some text games, that just work better (from a programming and a playability standpoint) in console mode, than throwing a GUI interface on them.

As to the "ugly" scroll bars under Vista for the console mode, this may not be a problem for my programs. I am using API calls to set the size of the console window. On older OSes there are still scroll bars, but on XP, there are not any scrollbars. I am hoping that Vista will be the same

I've got another question but I don't know wether you are allowed to talk about it but are these thinks one can see on the left site of the screenshot which look like little thumpnails of the desktop something like the virtual desktops on Linux?

I think you are talking about http://xthost.info/xsoft/vista/5.PNG .
In Windows Vista, when you move you mouse on a task bar item, (ex Media Player X), a small preview (thumbnail) will be displayed.

To do Virtual Desktops feature (that is found in Linux) on XP/Vista, you need extra programs such as Virtual Desktop Manager - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx.
