try this review (be sure to read the do 6 review also).

Don't want to start a "file manager war" - from what I've seen total commander is a fine product. I've spent more time using DO and from reviews I've seen it is certainly among, if not, the best. With the coupon doubledutch mentioned, it's a steal.

cheers

Dagcrack and blueznl, you can not talk so that if you don't know both products very well.

just downloaded it and tried it... mmm... think i'll stick to what i know, besides i already paid for it total commander :-)

i personally think total commander is a little cleaner in setup, eats up less screen estate, has better rename and tabbed / history features, and slightly better packer support (but on that last one i may be utterly wrong, didn't go through all details there)

directory opus has some other nice functions, a built in file viewer, the possibility to jump to part of a path, more configuration options

i must say that directory opus is nice, but it's a little to 'twiddely' for my taste, even as a brand new user i would opt for total commander over directory opus as total commander 'feels' somewhat cleaner, but i admit it is a matter of choice

but again, i already bought total commander, so... :-)

(looks, by the way, not too difficult to do a simple commander / opus thing in pb, well, if i have nothing better to do... :-))

Sure, DOpus is very nice, but I stick to TotalCMD and my WFX / WCX / WDX / WLX plugins ; look at the huge list available at http://www.totalcmd.net/ and http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewforum.php?f=6
Another nice file manager is EFCommander ( http://www.efsoftware.com/cw/e.htm ) wich supports almost any TotalCMD plugin.

for those on a tight budget ef commander lite looks the way to go :-) can't seem to figure out though what are the differences between that one and the regular one, not a very helpful site :-)

I'll stick with a DOS box. ;)
