So yes its not useful this kind of things (in fact, when has .net been useful, christ.. anyway, its pointless.

I don't believe anyone could realistically view anything .NET as "competition" to PureBasic. That's why we were so surprised (and disappointed) when the original thread was deleted.
Useless - yes. Competition - no.

netmaestro,
Give me a beatle over a porche any day. The car has character. Just watch "Herbie".
Anyway, if PB was a langauge it would have to be a 2CV. If you think thats an insult, just watch "For Your Eyes Only."

That's why Netmaestro said "my two cents" (abbreviated '2CV')

The more I think about it, the more striking the similarity:
2CV : French
PB : French
2CV : No reverse gear
PB : No NOT

Why are you calling .NET programmes that?

Because they are like that. I got to know some ".net programmers" last day, ended up laughting pretty hard inside myself, turned that they didnt know shiet about programming, all they knew was the .net framwork command set and basics of programming. They don't get to learn anything using .net... It's like someone requires to know how to get the height of his screen and someone points him "download this lib, it will do it for you", okey good tip but why doing that? did the guy learn anything?, no, he didnt. In fact hes using yet another lib and making his exe bigger for no reason.
Anyway, there ARE programmers who came from other "places" into .net, thats ok... they must have their reasons for being slaves of MS' framework...
My problem is not .net itself, the problem is that they don't get to learn anything if they come from 0 to .net (trust me I'm saying this because I just had a talk with 6 guys who just got into programming and using .net, other 3 guys that already programmed for many years and even agreed with me, they wont learn anything using .net).
And as I once mentioned, a co-worker used to work with a high-level "game engine".. after 2 years, I just asked him: "whats a cubemap?" (in purpose) and he didnt know, couldnt answer... he became all red. Thats what I mean with .net, same thing happens.
That's all, have a wonderful rocket in your, soul.
(By the way... I don't know if having a car that was first and mainly designed by mr hitla... Yeh it has its character, whenever you turn around it burns your blitzbasic programming books (which is GOOD)!.

Ok, I got one more question for you:
Do you learn anything using PureBasic?
Assembly programmes might say that you're fat and stupid also...

May I ask you? you think I use PB command set all day and I'm against windows api?, furthermore, we do optimize and programm in inline and direct asm here. I don't know about you.. but we do.
I had to even develop many array functions that PB lacks of, and didnt even bitch about it, just did it. Because I needed it.
If I use PB it's because of the syntax, it's faster to write anything in it. However it's functions are not fast. Yes, faster than blitzbasic and vb in many cases, but not as fast as they could be. (For example, the RGB() function is so slow that I had to make my own, which, let me mention: works twice as fast).
And the same with everything. So don't come saying that. If I learn anything using purebasic it's because I don't stick to the box, I get out of the box and work from there, and yes, we use C here as well, sometimes its better to use C than PB, I cant help it.
Well I didnt really say they were stupid, just that they had lots of whims and they were wannabes. Fat they might be if they are all day using .net and nothing else
It's not the same to use .net functions than to make your own functions in PB or any language and use them. At least you've got the source of them and you can fix anything you want with out having to republish a 30MB file or just a patch, which even if its 100KB it is 100KBs and its bothering the client (say those 100KBs PLUS the new exe / files of your program.. stupid).
And for the record, If you look around you, you'll see many people complaining about ASM in here ("oh how ugly the codez looks", etc) It's not about how it looks its about the speed... and possible functionality enhancements. thats all (although I got to know just a weird small amount of people who actually found ASM sexy, anyone in here that is like that?).

If those fellas don't know anything, why are they hired?
O and thanks, i am a programmer for long time and i like ASP.NET very.
I'm finally able to write me client/server prorgams using a language i understand + it's extensive(!)
