I enjoyed reading down through this and had an idea
lets go back to Dos for 100% cpu power

Besides the obvious (first run is faster) i could be because of the graphics board...
In the 1st run, the sprites are stored in the beginning of the gfx mem, and on the second they are stored further away, so access time is longer...

...ok. That true a confusion can existe between FPS:
TPS is the acronym of TEMPS = TIME in french
But it doesn’t matter, as I wrote on my first post:
