Strange?!? :?:

I don't understand, please explain for me!

This is the "Off Topic" forum and you can post almost anything, even posts with pictures of David Hasselhoff - but not a little code snippet of C++ code?

Strange, really strange... Censorchip against C++ !!

Maybe the moderator should post a "sticky post" and explain that everything is allowed - except posting about C / C++ ?!?

techjunkie,

don't fly off the handle.

I guess, this is just ... well boring to have pages and pages of c code here, when just some comments and links should have been enough.

But no problem about c / c++.

Don't expect too... :D but I DID vomit over my keyboard when I saw the Hasselhoff post, so some kind of censorship is maybe good?

[Note: None of my posts in this topic should be taken serious!]

> This is the "Off Topic" forum and you can post almost anything

First of all: C++ snippets aren't off-topic, they are directly coding-related.

Second, out of the 4 posts, only 2 had replies, and nobody else seemed
interested. It's a Basic forum, not a place to store C++ snippets that
only one or two people were interested enough to reply to. Where would
it end? It looked like va!n was going to just keep posting them, judging
by the "Coding" prefix in the titles. It's the "Off Topic" forum as you said,
so why do we, as Basic coders, need to browse here and see lots of C?

I'm not the only one with this view: others didn't want to see it either, so
it's not something that only I'm opposed to. The tribe has spoken! :)

The point Traumatic made was valid, and had to do with permissions, etc.
(Edited to correct spelling: Traumatic)

The point Techjunkie made was also valid, and an attempt to "moderate" this discussion using humour.

The other points are, well, just points of view.

When encountering anything you dislike or that is of minimal interest to you, you can skip past it. :)

This board and the material it contains is, long term, self-correcting. If threads are not of interest they die, drifting down into oblivion. Those that are of interest receive attention and this encourages other threads of a similar nature.

Not so? Just check out the other "coding" posts by va!n.

This discussion is a little like the sometimes-heated "my browser is best" discussions. Of course it is - for you. Otherwise why use it. Same here. Your poison, someone else's meat.

And, to push the point, what do the relative merits of Opera/FireFox/IE/Netscape/Mozilla et al have to do with purebasic? Zero, zip, nothing. But who cares and what damage is done if the interest is there?

BTW, for how C is useful to PureBasic, check out PBOS.

This is community. This is a major strength of PureBasic.

Rather than worry about what is in off-topic, why not start moving coding questions to "coding questions" and "my bug but I'll say it's your bug" reports out of bug reports into "coding questions". Etc.

:)

42! So long, and thanks for all the fishes!

The forum has only a "PuerBasic related coding section" !!!! So i posted it to the off topic, because it has nothing directly to do with PureBasic but it could be important for the PureTeam and for any other people here! I think there are some tutorials that would help to improve PureBasic and helping people when they want to write new/own libs! (libs could be coded in C++ too!) Take a look to some userlibs around. There are math-related,drawing-related, memory-related libs available! so i think its not a shame to show people optimized and best ways to realize such routines!

As i wrote some postings before... i agree the point with traumatic but please stop this *neverending!?* discussions if the posted code snips may flood or not flood the forum and if they are usefull or not! In future i dont will poste anymore any stuff like this! However the forum is full with some really useless and funny stuff - so please stop this discussion, delete my postings and its good! thanks!

Ehhhh... :?:

Sure they must be "Off Topic"?!?! This is a PureBasic forum, or?

Do you mean we should post good C / C++ snippets in another place?!? or not at all? Then - what is allowed and what is not allowed in "Off Topic"? Please enlighten me!

I thought all that didn't had to do with PB should be posted here, my misstake - sorry...

(This is a really stupid discussion - the poor guy posted a little piece of good C++ code (with reference) and came with a good advice, and get shit for it. I've seen lot of other posts in this area 1000 times worse - and not a comment about that.)

This discussion is a waste of time - I'm out of here... :D
