I have tried Kerio and found it to be abit unstable for my liking. AVG is good, but uses abit too much resources.
Right now I'm running ClamWin and PeerGuardian and the speed is noticable, even starts up much faster now. So I'll think I'll stick with that for now and see how it works.

i have sucessfully used Avast antivirus in combination with kerio personal firewall. the reason i like kerio more than zonealarm is that it seems to be able to handle more connections and also sometimes i felt zonealarm to block more than i asked it to.
avast however is a great antivirus the reason i use norton is that i got a legal version for free.

I used Norton Antivirus before, it came with my previous computer. But after testing Avast it found alot of viruses Norton didn't, so after that I have never installed or trusted Norton.

I don't use firewalls, 'case der fully useless, they block everything, and make problems.
I had Norton Antivirus but i don't like it, i also have used Kaspersky and Antivir, now I'm testing AVG Anti-Virus.

I use "ZoneAlarm with Antivirus" -- two protections in one.

But a hardware firewall won't stop an app from "phoning home", which is a
very important thing to prevent.

Very lame from you.. But what else can I say? I wont give you a seminary of why you should protect your PC.. instead, i'll let you run naked in a street full of crack dealers and rapers (thats what you're practically doing with out security ).
Thanks to people like you I get PCs to fix anyway

Kerio and Avast Home
I've found both to be very stable and always updated.
Zonealarm has always had a memory leak which just keeps slowing the machine down..... Kerio doesn't and provides much the same!
Norton ?! forget it, why pay when there's better for free ?
I did run Sygate for a while, but like Kerio better... and it's free...
Anyone get the feeling, I LIKE FREE

Well, I use AVG for antivirus, and for a firewall, i rely on hardware
As far as spyware goes, i have MS anti-spyware running in my system tray, and every few weeks i run Adaware and Spybot S&D. My computer is online 24/7 and i have never gotten a virus on it, although spyware somehow keeps finding its way in, with the measures i have in place 90% of the bad stuff gives me a warning and doesn't install.

I use the firewall that came with XP home, and MS antispyware. No antivirus installed.
Just checked with TrendMicro HouseCall, and out of 96589 files, two lame virii was
detected and deleted.

You see

? I don't have virus on my computer

I think you're pulling everyone's leg!
You probably have a dozen layers of protection, including sniffers, anti-intrusion devices (hardware and softeware), several firewalls (which keep trying to block each other), multiple AV apps and a little man with a spray can of insect killer running around in the background.

I use Norton antivirus, and Zonealarm as firewall.
Polo,
if you don't use Antivirus AND firewall, sure you have your PC full of virus and strange attacks. Nowadays, inet connection is not safe for all it.
Norton and Kaspersky are the bests from the 7 AV i've tested. Both two use almost no CPU resource, and it's very efficient.
Zonealarm almost use any CPU resources, but i doubt about its efficiency.

Avast Home can't remove a file injected by virus (as macro virus).
