Heh heh... not trying to start an argument here, but I just spent over 4 hours today trying to clean up the malware, spyware and other nasties from one of my co-worker's computer.... poor guy couldn't get a lick of work done from all the pop-ups and such. Personally, I'd trade security for complexity any day.

Which distro would you reccommend?

What I need is a Linux that is easy to install PB on, and so I can use the new IDE. Other than that I want Firefox 1.0.4 and Evolution. And preferably Gnome Wink Any good suggestions?

It's free, easy and comes with just about everything a person could want. Then again, being a Debian based distro, adding and updating software is a piece of cake too. Finally, it has the best hareware recognition that I've *ever* seen on a Linux distro. It just works!

Edit: Doesn't come with the Gnome desktop though... I don't know for sure if you can add it.

Hi sec,

Do you mean a simple and clean (pure) linux or do you mean easy to use - especially for those of us who are used to windows? Is the KISS bit keeping it simple and clean linux or simple because it does so much for you, like windows?

PS: I have heard that ubantu is very user oriented, and more window-ish than most.

I've been using Ubuntu abit and it's pretty similar to Mandrake and alike. If you want a really really userfriendly Windows like Linux I would say Xandros. Doesn't come any simpler then that. And the pay version comes with Crossover Office so you can run many Windows apps too.

Well, It is not a point 'n click distro so it is abit hard for starter.

So far Fedora has been my most successful attempt to play with linux. I will look at Xandros. If it is more automated and no-brainer than Fedora, I already love it.

Trust me Dare2, if you want a distro easier than Xandros, you'll need a Linux secretary to do your job for you

I just installed Fedora 4 Core, everything seems fine, except for the fact the IDE doesn't work over here either

No errors, no alerts... It just doesn't run!

(I've changed permissions and all, but nada, niente, zip ...)

This just solved the problem!!!

I got it up & running, it just downloaded 300Kb from the net and all is ok now!

BTW: Why in hell is the IDE compiled using GTK 1.2 ? Why not GTK 2+ ?
