Yeah, i Voted Firefox also, and changed the poll a little to suit my vote better

Since we install Firefox standard on all our new systems that go out, support calls dropped by 70 percent.....
Much less spyware to remove.....

I guess the diference between a normal user and a programmer is the fact a programmer understands why firefox is better ...

I haven't tried, but this app lets you remove most things from Windows,
including Internet Explorer (according to their screenshots, and from what
I've read on the net from satisfied users): http://www.litepc.com/

No more than any other good app. FF is far smaller than IE -- Firefox
is a 5 MB download, and IE6 is something like 90 MB.

IE is widely used, it's a MS product (many hates MS and wants to harm them), and the creeps
out there have had a long time to learn how to create problems for people using it. :(

Firefox doesn't have to stand up to these massive attacks yet, and I can believe switching
to Firefox could help a lot in reducing support calls for example. :)

Which makes it better for some, but not neccessarily for me or others who haven't had a
problem with IE for ages.

As for Num3's remark, I don't understand why Firefox IS better, only that Firefox CAN be
better for some, IE CAN be better for others, and I respect that fact.

thefool, maybe I don't browse a lot, I don't know what you mean by a lot, but I'm browsing say 3-4 hours
each day. I have a 1024/256 ADSL line, and the PC is connected for a few hours more each day. :)

Browsers are one of those things that people get passionate about.

A long time ago Netscape ruled, dominated. It had some none-standard stuff that made a few tricks possible, these were called "extra features". They were called "neat, nice, nifty".

Then MS IE caught up. It dominated. It introduced some non-standard stuff that made a few tricks possible. These were called "dirty tricks". They were called "evil, nasty, bad".

:)

Back when NS ruled, some webmasters made their websites NS-Only. They even displayed messages saying this, and were rude to people who arrived with IE browsers. This was considered cool.

Now IE rules. Some websites use IE only features that make visiting with anything else a pain. This is considered arrogant.

:)

Go figure.

IE does have some iffy stuff, esp ActiveX. But FF and Moz are not bulletproof. Sheet-heads mostly target IE. And MS/IE make better news than FF. Moz.

Anyhow, nearly ALL modern browsers are nice and work well.

By the slightest of margins, and at the moment, I prefer mozilla over firefox and firefox over IE.

A little while ago I preferred FireFox.

Tomorrow ..?

Arrogance is as arrogance does. Is a moderator/administrator changing someone else's poll just "because they can" arrogance?

MS IE cannot be removed...

Sooner or later other programs will start to crash because they need an IE component to work...
