You are totally right.
The newest version of Opera (v8.0) shows pages much better. F.exp works the msdn pages as a dream now, while with older version was totally screwed up.

lol you are screwed up..
well the new opera is okay, but firefox is still my choise as i dont like ads. i dont wanna buy it when i can use firefox. but it is more secure, and there is more facts to prove that than the other way around. i bet you didnt read my last posts, you just wanna argue with me & other happy firefox users.

of course FF supports java applets. but those arent NEARLY as big a security risk as active x, and its far more usefull.

The ads on Opera is in a small windows at the right top. Choose to use Google based ads(ads based on keywords found on the document) in Opera, and you get small text based ads which is useful.

i know. i also still have opera installed but im very satisfied with firefox. i dont have a big screen only a 15" lcd [around a normal 17" crt]..
but im not saying firefox is a lot better than opera, just that its a lot better than internet explorer, and much more secure. i know opera is secure too, much more than internet explorer as well. its just that firefox definently got a good thing of being open source: fast bug correction!

I use IE, since it's free and comes with the OS. I've installed and use MS Anti Spyware, and Windows
Update is active, and I seldom have any security problems. I guess SP2 helped a lot. Just my '2 cents'.
If you consider the current number of IE/WIndows users around, I think they do a great job after all.

lol its not because of ie. its because it comes with the os and many users are just to dumb to figure out that there is other software.
i guess you dont browse a lot. even with sp2 i get my computer full of shit that installs itself automatically.
MS antispyware is in my opinion a great tool. but still: you doesnt browse too much if you dont get anything. your probaly not even tried firefox yet

its really great. i couldnt live without tapped browsing!

Sorry Ricardo, but you're wrong. It's been shown that the popularity of
something doesn't always make it more likely to be attacked. As said on
Cnet:
Market share does not predict security. Apache has more market
share than has Microsoft IIS, which has more holes than Apache. Based
on this, Firefox SHOULD be more hacked than IE, but it isn't...
Also, Firefox doesn't support ActiveX, so visiting web pages with malicious
ActiveX content will have NO effect. Also, Firefox doesn't have security
"zones", so a virus can't unblock a blocked zone to allow damage.
And for the record: on my PC all web pages load much faster with Firefox
than Internet Explorer, every time.
Finally, think MS isn't scared by Firefox? They classed it as "spyware" in
their AntiSpyware:

Well, that may be true that popularity doesn't *always* mean that it's going to be attacked more... however look at a different example... apple computers
in relatively recent times there have been tons of security updates for OSX, at the same time as apples market share has been growing. This means one of 2 things
a- Apple started making crappier software recently
b- people have been targeting osx more as it has become more popular
now... as far as apple fans say, osx is the most secure OS that apple has ever made... that leaves option b.

apple os x isnt opensource

no comparison here.
i fully supports PB's statement. However my ms antispyware doesnt find firefox as a security threat, but they might removed it from the list, because i guess there was a lot of complaints about that.

I'm on a 1Mb/s (2Mb/s soon) line. and I
do browse a lot, and ..haven't tried Firefox yet, you're
right about that.
But since IE/M$ seems to work ok, I'll continue to use their'e offerings for now. (Keep it simple ...)

Mcafee enforces ACTIVEX for their updates!!!
Go figure, how stupid can you be!!
It's so terrible, users don't understand and will most likely enable AX for all times.

??
FF is not more popular than IE !!
Im not saying IE is good. personally i never use it. Im just trying to show some logic behind all this spyware world.
The day that FF becomes the most used, there will be a lot of holes founded and exploits. Now its marginal and its not important yet as a 'market'.
Personally i think Opera is much better than FF, but its only my personal opinion.
