And I have to stand straight and take the beating here..

How so?
Anyway, all I had to do on Fedora core 3 was install the following packages:
gtk+-devel-1.2.10-33.i386.rpm
glib-devel-1.2.10-15.i386.rpm
gtk+-devel-1.2.10-33.i386.rpm
SDL-devel-1.2.7-8.i386.rpm
Just find these rpm's and install with the following syntax:
# rpm -ivh <package name>
Also, "gtk2" compiles perfectly - but I did not load anything extra. I must have installed the GTK2 development environment with Gnome.

@Beach: Well I told him that the filenames was : libgtk* & libSDL*
And it is on Mandrake..
And rpm -ihv fail if a package is already installed doesn't it??
I use rpm -U instead, for upgrade/install..
(the vh part is just for some "nice" output..)

Kinda strange. I have just reinstalled Fedora and I thought all my files and settings would be lost. But when I started Fedora after the new installation all files and settings were still present. I didn't change the partition or anything, just installed over the corrupted installation. Now I'm gonna install PB again and see if I can get it working. Btw, I saw abunch of packages which had the gtlib and other names in them so I installed all of them. Now I don't have KDE installed, only Gnome. (I think) hehe

Just tried reinstalling PB. And I still get this error
"sh: gtk-config: command not found"

Could you try to compile the program with the '-s gtk2' flags ? ie:
pbcompiler gadget.pb -s gtk2

That worked Fred. What does that mean? Have I installed something wrong?

That mean you've installed the gtk+2 libs, but not gtk-1.2..

Well it's working. I'm happy with that for now

Do you know how I can set the PBCompiler to run from Kate under external tools? And perhaps also choose the name and location of the compiled output?

Not possible.. terminal is your friend here..
But you can have highlighting/folding!
Just go to Settings\Configure Kate\Highlighing and download select PureBasic

To select the name, use -e yourname.out. BTW, you can don pbcompiler -h to have a quick help on all supported flags

ole, yeah I noticed it already has syntax highlighting and folder thingy for PB. That rocks. I've always liked Kate. Whish it was avaiable for Windows too.
Fred, thanks m8.
I think I'll write a small util for my own purposes when compoiling and add that to the externam tools menu

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm starting to play with purebasic under linux (Fedora Core 4) and having some troubles. After installing the libstdc++ stuff, I'm finally able to compiler code. But not from the IDE. I've got gtk2 installed rather than the older version. When I compiler with the command line given above, everything works like a charm. When I compile from the command line, it spits up a ton or errors about not having the correct GTK lib.
How do I tell the IDE to compile with the '-s gtk2' flag? I'm using 3.93Beta1.
Thanks,
Aaron

Under Compiler->Compiler Options there's Library Subsystem.
Try typing gtk2 in there..
