I second this. I have not registered for any product there, yet i get mails. Last time mr Bob wanted me to tell my friends about powerbasic. To make the community bigger. for FREE???GeoTrail wrote:![]()
Maybe you should do the same with them Fred?
Powerbasic
I've heard of some people having that problem with them. It's too easy to get on their lists but hard to get off.gebe wrote:I also asked to be removed from their list ,to no avail.
You don't have to be a customer to get the Gazzette.Fred wrote:The strange stuff is i'm getting theire newsletter as well, while i never registered the product.
Hmm... Did you ever register on their forum to post messages? It wouldn't surprize me one bit if they trolled their forum membership database for new e-mail addresses to send marketing e-mails (SPAM) to.Dare wrote:Wonder how they are getting the email addys?
Probably the simplest solution, if you don't want their stuff, is to just add them to your blocked senders list.

I imagine this explains it. I threw this in the trash, I'd never supply them with any names, but I imagine some people did:Dare wrote:Wonder how they are getting the email addys?

We'll make it easy for you to "Share the Power"! {smile} Anyway,
here's the plan... You give us a name (or a few names), and we'll
send just one short, informative e-mail under your name and ours.
We won't follow up. We'll never use their e-mail again, unless they
choose to sign up.
So, Share the Power! Just GoTo...

I don't care what they promise, unless the owner of the e-mail address gives me permission to share it, I would never give anyone's e-mail address to anyone else for any reason.
Only problem I see with that is they'd either have to gain access to the member database of the forum or your e-mail address would have to be viewable.Brice Manuel wrote:I would not be shocked if he harvested them from competing programming forums
Ah. That probably explains it.netmaestro wrote:I imagine this explains it. I threw this in the trash, I'd never supply them with any names, but I imagine some people did:Dare wrote:Wonder how they are getting the email addys?

Maybe I should have read the thing before discarding it.

Interesting.. all of a sudden there's this 10 page thread named "..." here in the "Off Topic".. I go to see whta was so interesting that it took 10 pages in less than a day since I didn't see it yesterday.. And I see that Brice has edited his every post within this thread to read merely "..."
What's up with that?
What's up with that?

It would appear Chris has hijacked yet another thead on another forum that has nothing to do with PowerBasic just to pimp EZGUI.
He does this all the time on the PowerBasic forums (hijacks threads about other GUI designers) and used to do it on the old Pyxia, Ionic Wind and Coding Monkeys forums:
http://www.codingmonkeys.com/index.php?topic=1338.0
http://www.codingmonkeys.com/index.php?topic=1283.0
In particular, this one was the stuff of legends. It ranks right up there with the old "show me da codes" thread:

I was STUPID enough to buy this one !!!
There are plenty "wrappers" for Power Basic in fact this one is the most expensive one (like its base), ergo the intense need for pimping.,,,,
I use Pure Basic (cheap wrapping paper)==>> BEST value for money
and RosAsm (assembly) cheaper stil....
after spending thousands....
Development is much faster with Pure Basic .....no headhaches , no expensive follow-ups every year or 2.
No need for EXPENSIVE add ons.....
The other ones are value for moanyng.
Some non professional users here are more professional than some professionals.

No, not about EZGUI, but the thread was long dead, until Chris hijacked it. Knowing Chris unless the thread is locked, we will have another 10 pages being posted telling us why we must have EZGUI and how it is more superior to anything else on the market.
