Fact of the matter is, it is being developed. Probably not at the pace that some people crave, but that's the price you pay when there is a small development team. Just from what Fred has posted himself, there is the Long Term Support(LTS) version, which just means it should be command stable for a fixed amount of time so that existing code doesn't get broken with an update. and a more "Bleeding edge" version being developed alongside it, which means, new commands and features, old commands could change at any moment... think of it like a long term beta for the next LTS version. There was no fixed time period given for a release schedule for either versions... but unless Fred says otherwise, I think we can all safely assume that PB and Spider Basic are still being actively developed.
Lebostein wrote:or is the end near?
There is no point in jumping to conclusions about PB's demise. Just because Mark Sibly has said
"Monkey sales are not good and it's likely I will have to find some kind of 'supplementary' income soon" doesn't mean that Fred is in the same canoe... traveling up shit creek without a paddle! Mark does this from time to time, he gets depressed and downs tools. Can't say I blame him either with all the folk who keep posting messages like "is blitz dead?... is it being actively developed" they are hardly the words of encouragement and not exactly motivation inspiring are they? Same applies to Fred... I'm sure he really wants to get out of bed in the morning to be greeted by such messages of support

HM, this could be a typo as well. I would not take this for sure, unless Fred or Freak makes an official announcement. Nevertheless I would be happy, if it was true!

But did not specify a release date.
This may be the next day, or for ten years!

There have been round about 20 updates within the last 10 years,
so experience shows that version 5.30 is not far away.
New features and surprises just need some time.

LuCiFeR[SD] nicely said.
It's good to see that people cares. People love PureBasic and fears comes from love, so perhaps a little lead way is in order.
PB has been around for awhile now, and things keeps becoming better and better. I think history of dedication is shown here. I think PB will be around for awhile yet.
Really a superb product and Fred and the team and its customers really do care for PureBasic project. Once in a long while little breaks occurs, but behind the scenes I bet they still working. It can be difficult to work on projects and simultaneously handling support over the forums.

I rarely buy software so for me to buy PB within weeks of trialing it tells me I saw something unique and superb about it. Congratulations for making such a fine product and by a small development team.

That was almost like my experience.
I've never bought software, I'm always using good freeware alternatives.
When I wanted to make an app, I've visited several different programming language sites. Various freewares, and many sharewares. I never even installed, but absorbed everything said on the official sites about each one.
Finally found PureBasic site, and really liked what I read. In-fact so much that I didn't continue looking for more options to compare with. My first download attempt of a programming language and trial. I knew that PB was a real catch so I bought it. That was my very first purchase of software goods.
Several years later, and now, and PureBasic is still my only purchase of a software goods. Look... I don't care who knows it, I'm poor. What I do is if I find a product I really like, I offer services exchanged for licenses. However, I usually do find good freeware alternatives anyways.
I also found it funny that Frederic is the name of another software developer that I've been aiding for many years.
... by the way, I never regret having paid money for PureBasic.

What kind of drugs are you doing, to make think PureBasic is not going to be further developed? Have you been downloading the updates? Have you been following the bug fixes?
If you want dead products go to PowerBASIC, or any of the versions of Blitz.

There have been round about 20 updates within the last 10 years,
But over 5 years, there were only 6 releases
with new functions, this 4.40, 4.50, 4.60, 5.00, 5.10 and 5.20.
This one version each year.

Yes, 6 big versions and 7 Stability-Releases in-between, all within 5 years. Want a lollipop?

Fred marked several Windows bugs as fixed today, so new version is coming soon...
...and users already get excited and nervous.
