Help with a complicated word needed

Post by merendo »

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with a very complicated word, well, actually it's three words. I know each of them but I don't understand what they mean in that context. Perhaps someone whose English is better than mine can help me.

The words are: bank deposit express. Perhaps you could either give me an explanation in English or a translation in German, that would be very much appreciated.

Many thanx in advance!!

bank deposit express most likely means that when you put money into your bank it is immediately available.

I'm from usa and I don't think I've ever heard that terminology before though.

In germany, we call that simply "Überweisung"

This is an eBay term, isn't it?
Completing eBay purchases is easy and fast with Bank Deposit Express:

1. The seller simply makes bank account information available to you as a buyer.
2. Once the listing ends, you immediately deposit money to pay for the item.
3. Shortly thereafter, the money appears in the seller's bank account.
4. The seller posts the item to you.
Other than that "Überweisung" indeed hits the nail ;)

Überweisung? That simple? That's hard to believe...

I found no dictionary at all (neither leo nor my DCE by Langenscheidt with about 2000 pages) that could help me.

However, many thanks for that help!! This forum is better than any dictionary *lol*

Guess "bank deposit express" is used just to make a fuss and sell something as feature while it is basically standard.

Wait, someone will patent it, like "1-click buys" and other things and we got to pay for each bank transferal. :P

That's possible. I think that many germans would even believe that it's a special feature. Unless they ask, like me, what it really means :D
