Any progress on Linux version?

Post by Danilo »

Is there any progress with the linux version of PureBasic?

What are the news, any time plan for a new version to catch
up to the windows version?
Bug fixes, new features (newer GTK+ etc..) ??

Will there be a 64bit Linux version in the near future (lets say 1 year) ?

Where can i get some infos on whats happening here, instead
waiting some month without any infos?
Is there a worklog somewhere, so we can see whats happening
lately?

Maybe a 2-weekly newsletter by eMail from Fantaisie Software
to get newest infos/progress by eMail?

Or is it not good to give customers informations about the state
and progress of PureBasic?

I'm all for the newsletter idea... :)
The Blitz community recently started doing monthly newsletters too, and it has been warmly welcomed.
Now I know that the Blitz community is much larger that PB, but I mean there's no reason not to make a smaller newsletter, with a few words on the progress of PB and also some news in the community (new apps, games, code snippets etc..)

Just my 2 cents anyways..

AMD Athlon XP2400, 512 MB RAM, Hercules 3D Prophet 9600 256MB RAM, WinXP
PIII 800MHz, 320 MB RAM, Nvidia Riva Tnt 2 Mach 64 (32MB), WinXP + Linux
17" iMac, 1.8 GHz G5, 512 MB DDR-RAM, 80 GB HD, 64 MB Geforce FX 5200, SuperDrive, OSX

I also "vote" for a newsletter! Would be much better to know, what is happening and planned with Pure Basic! :)

The worklog/newsletter is a good idea, I will see how setup this. For now: linux is nearly ready for beta test: #PB_Any added, IsGadget() and friends done, packer library fully ported and the compiler has been updated to v3.91. Expect it on sunday evening. On the Windows side a new beta should be out on sunday evening too with all the fixed stuffs.

Post by USCode »

:?: Fred, were you able to figure out the Linux executable size issue?
Also, which version of GTK are you using?
