All markets are manipulated.
We peeons need only concern ourselves with diversified index ETFs and always pay off your credit card each month.
Edit/PS: È impossibile dirlo sinteticamente meglio in Italiano; +1 per l'Inglese…
I stay away from precious metals.
Industry needs very small amounts.
The value comes from the perception that they are a good store of value. However this perception in only formed by history. It was always looked at as something valuable, so it seems very valuable.
The real risk in precious metals is the ratio of paper to physical, which we do not really know but estimates go into multiple 100x paper gold for each pysically existing ounce of gold.
This is a house of cards waiting to collapse. May happen tomorrow, may happen in a year, may happen in 20 years, may never happen.
But it's a risk most people dont have on their radar. Your gold in your portfolio may not even exist and if regulators find out, the value in your portfolio becomes 0.
So, if you want to invest in precious metals, highly recomment to get them physically.
