After many years with Proton, I decided not to renew with them. I tried Posteo, but immediately deleted my account as I simply could not read anything in their email client (way too small).
I found out about RiseUP today and it sounds ideal for what I am looking for (really hate having to use Google for anything), however it is an "invite only" service. Is anybody here a member, and if so willing to give an invite?

I am using riseup.net since 2011, and it is ok.
