Forum update missing :-(

Post by helpy »

Hello Fred and administrators,

A forum update with a responsive design for mobile devices would be great!

Reading on a smartphone in this forum is already very tedious.
And I do not like Tapatalk.

... modern, easy, portable ... three keywords from purebasic.com!
Wouldn't it be time that this also applies to the Purebasic forum.
It would be great to have a Purebasic forum with modern design, which is easy to use also on portable devices!

Greatings from Germany!

FTP? I think you mean simply image uploads. FTP is old and insecure and should not be used anymore.
The english grammar is freeware, you can use it freely - But it's not Open Source, i.e. you can not change it or publish it in altered way.

Yes NicTheQuick, a distant storage space dedicated for PureBasic forum, and why not only a unique and compacted format as JPEG ?

This would allow us to publish images without worring about the closing of the space...

A little bit as avatar internal storage, but for far larger dimensions than these of avatars.

This should grow the design of our messages.

We do not forget the smartphone have really a big resolution : it is the factory software which fails, fails and fails again...

It is to force us to connect again and again to distant stores x and y which are not more useful as what we are able...

The goal of manufacturers : to break us the brain to diluate responsabilities in way of security problem...

We could add the same template than https://forums.spiderbasic.com which is responsive, if you like.

Yes, you're right, I hadn't seen the (very very) tiny icon in upper/right

Thanks :)

Will this be an option or will the other themes be lost then? It sounds like an option, but I just want to be sure I understood it correctly.

Will you also add that template to the German and French forum? The users there are also asking for a responsive template.

I can read the term << responsive >>.

Green energy ?

Fred, look and test the forum of ArS, obviously to exchange code (write new message, and read).

Very interesting. Far better than "unique colown" which is an option of the smartphone explorer. If anybody wants to have only one column

Also imagine all the wasted space on the left and on the right from the main text in Spider Basic. It is incredible.

To play to say "twit twit" no problem, but to help, by reading, studying and writing code, it is unable, absolutely unable.

No code help. No money.
No illustrating = headaches.

Which problem are occuring with ftp with only low quality JPEG ?

That would be an option! :-)
This theme seems to work so far and is probably displayed quite nicely on mobile devices.

Other topic: security !
As I can see, this forum uses phpBB 3.0.14:

Hello Helpy,
what does it prevent Fred to upgrade the forum to a version 3.2.xx ? Data base format ? Advertising rules ? Security ? Or design/compatibility for smartphone ?
In a mail to Fred (that Fred did not answer...), I suggested an important thing.
PureBasic is like an island where cleverness is born and is maintained by the PB team too (the users a lot, but the PB team too).
What I appreciated is the few of advertising.
I read and read again the forum of Spider Basic to compare. It is difficult to trust to the new forum. Security too, because I suppose (excepted my mistakes) I must switch the cookies on, what this site here does not require.
I risk to become absent, unabled to connect. It is not very important.
What it is important is if too many people cannot connect to the forum due to the safety of their device.
My suggesting far from this, concerns the approach of advertising. I think Fred should have its private "advertising".
Let us imagine in the bottom of the page, PB Team show several illustrated links : Paypal, Tepee, bitcoins (even if I do not appreciate this last one), Bank code, etc... And adds sometimes a game/appli created by a user could be shown.
A "local" advertising for "local" act. (local in the site, not in the reality)
