Thorin's Quest

Post by darius676 »

Hello,
May I introduce my new gaming project :
Target: an action adventure (like, mix) dungeon crawler.

********************************************************************************
Hello everyone, :)

now I have decided on the story, the game content:

The land (name is still to be determined) was invaded by the armies of the "Spider King",
The treasure of the dwarves immeasurably large, guarded by the Dragon of Light, stolen.
The Dragon of Light, unable to free itself from the net, woven from darkness and woven from the souls of the victims, endures his existence in the deep dark, of traps and
Guards guarded caves, the spider kingdom.

Only one dwarf, the king of the Dwarve people, could escape into the vastness of his land.
Now it is up to him to save his people, to procure the treasure again, to deliver the dragon of light,
who watched over that people of dwarves and their treasures to defeat the Spider King.

Customization of individual graphics (player caracter), advanced gamplay, follows in one of the next updates

****************************************************************************************************

Current download links are always in this first post. Thank you for your Attention. :)

Translated German-> English, using "Bing Microsoft Translator"

Current version of "The Quest Of the Dwarfes King"" and Tools is online.

Graphics have been edited, should now look more like a single cast.

Screenshots look enticing; I've downloaded to look at later. All done with PureBasic?

Although, I am a little concerned that it's your first post and you've linked to an exe file... will launch it with Sandboxie just to be safe. ;)

Even if I haven't tested it myself, darius is already known for a longer time on german PB forum.
See his project thread there: https://www.purebasic.fr/german/viewtop ... 12&t=31268

Ok, maybe there some things out there, mankind never will understand
I am a bit confused, because its running on other systems, with low, and very low systemperformance at no reason with frames lower than 15.... ATOM Cpu and intel Chip Gfx on small convertivle pc.

Maybe there is a situation my program uses features only windows 10 make them work?
What screenresolution / desktop resolution you are using?

The code uses DPI scaling(is compiled with DPI sensitive on) so all screens starting with 1280*720 up to 4K? Should work. Testet with Surface Laptop 2256×1504 at 200ppi. Also standard resolutions 1680 * 1080 where testet, and 1280*720 all on different systems. All systems use windows 10 Home Edition (Surface Windows 10 Pro)

Here is a build from a view days ago, but I dont think this will in your case do better?

Yes, I know which features I use. All Commandsets/commands used comming with purebasic. There are no Windows APi calls on my own.

Windows Version, why Windows 10? First: all systems I ve access including my own are windows 10 systems. Maybe that if the Game progressed to a final state, I will consider a 32Bit and Windows 7(8) "patch" for now the support and bugfixing for older systems is too much affort.

Thank you for testing and feedback.

Project17
Version 201908072017:

the following changes are made:

Since the loading times of the first large map were quite long, the engine was
the map is added to stream.
There are new objects in the map so that it doesn't look so "dead".
In debug mode (default), the background color has been changed from red to green. Much nicer for the eyes. :)
For testing, you can switch between streaming or conventional charging.
Which buttons do what are displayed in debug mode.

Player input/control of refresh rate of the screen.
All players - Steurerung - actions should now proceed equally quickly or slowly, regardless of the performance provided by the executing system.

In terms of content, the game moves ever closer towards dungeon crawlers.
Goal (so far): Find all treasure chests.

The current version does not yet check the total number of treasure chests installed in the map.
The system has been made more universal, so other quest tasks may await the player in the future.

Requirements:
tested on various systems Intel I3, Atom, Intel I5, Intel HD 610/620 , nVidia 1050TI (from Windows 7 64Bit, up to Windows 10 64Bit) 32 Bit is currently not supported.
minimum (various tested) screen resolution: 1024 x 768, maximum ?

Known issues:
Performance depends on desktop resolution and refresh rate.
