Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

attaching a pack to exe

Post by Dreglor »

i was wondering if it is possible to attach a pack file to the end of a exe (pb of course) like a self extracting exe like thing with out it interfering with exe

see i was pondering a way to quickly extract things from a execute with out people haveing some extractor or pb to do so i though up a statci exe that would copy the ending chunk of data from the exe which were some program attched the pack to, into a sepreat file and then extract the files from it

but i worryed that it will be executed like normal machien code resulting in some werid error(s)
so is there a way to seperate the 2 files with out doing so

Dreglor,

Could you attach it to the end of the program using "IncludeBinary" and have your program extract it to a separate file?

Look at my message in this thread to see a small code sample:

There should be no problem appending data to the end of an exe file, this is true for WinOS only, for Linux i don't know...

If the data is after the 'exit process' part of the code in your problem, it'll never get reached, so it shouldn't cause any problems (even on non-windows systems, although I don't know for sure)
